I was bored one night (how unusual and I decided to use my trusty rent one get one free coupon for Blockbuster and rent a game. After I went to Blockbuster, they were pretty much out of good games because I came a little too late. I felt like playing a fighting game and there was no other game then Mortal Kombat Trilogy so I decided to give it a try. I can’t believe I even spent $5 for something that I’ve already seen before. There is absolutely nothing new and I’m disappointed with Midway for doing this stupid idea (what’s new?). Midway created this trilogy pack in late 1996 after the release of Playstation and it is now a greatest hit. Before I take you through a lesson in Mortal Kombat history I just want to say that you shouldn’t think because of three games that it will make a good one because all this is the same Mortal Kombat krap.OK, I’m finally done with explaining Mortal Kombat Trilogy. Now, I really do think this game sucks, but I only gave it a 4 for one reason. I feel that this game is about a 3.8 and it’s basically every Mortal Kombat rolled into this one except for Mortal Kombat 4. Each Mortal Kombat game in my opinion is around a 1.5 atleast in this game so basically it adds up and makes up the score of a 4. I really wanted to like this game, but as I popped it in to the faithful Playstation I got bored immediately. Please do yourself a favor and do not buy this game because it is only a waste of $20 and you can just rent it for $5. That’s my final word on Mor.
Mortal Kombat Trilogy is a truly great and very unappreciated game in this series, give it a shot. The disk was in great condition and works wonders on the PS1 or PS2 very well. Two things to consider before making your purchase:1) The Nintendo 64 version does NOT have the final bosses (Shao Khan, Motrao, Kintaro, and Goro) as playable characters, it also does not have certain other characters (MK1 Kano, MK1 Raiden, MK2 Jax, MK2 Kung Lao, or Unmasked MK3 Sub-Zero) playable.2) If you own PS1 disk version and a PS2 and you beat Shao Khan, who is the final boss, in arcade mode or you go through 8-Player Tournament, you canNOT select any of Shao Khan’s treasures, your game will merely have a black screen. To solve this problem, reset the game in your PS2 system to resume Kombat gameplay (again) or just own an old PS1 system.
Has everyone from mortal kombat 1-3 and more including bosses. Very great. Very awesome. 1v1, 2v2, 8 player ladder modes. If you’re an early mortal kombat fan like myself, this game is a must have.
I got this specifically for the original version and this REALLY brings back memories! This was the barracks game of choice 20 years ago while I was stationed in the Army. I just had to get it and it’s every bit as much fun as I remember. Now I get to perform babalities on my wife! Toastie!!!
Finally getting around to reviewing this game. MK Trilogy is a great Mortal Kombat game. The PS1 version (and the other versions on older systems) have good reply value, especially w/ friends & siblings. The graphics are good for a older fighting game. Similar to the arcade’s. The controller configuration is good. This game has a pretty decent size roster of characters to play as. Including bosses, like Shao Kahn,Goro,Kintaro. If you have a PS2 you can play this PS1 game on it. I have a PS2 w/ HD cables. And have went into my PS3’s settings, & configured it to play PS1 games. My PS3 has HDMI hooked up to a 1080LCD. When playing this game on my LCD in the PS3, it’s sharp, yet smudgy. Just exposing the pixels a bit more. I still get down on it. If you have a older TV and play it on there it’ll look it’s best. A early 200’s TV w/ HD inputs but not being a LCD will be the ultimate way to get it’s full potential! I recommend this game to anyone into MK games and old school fighters!
Absolutely AMAZING!!! This game came with no scratches and it works great on ps1 and PS3. The shipping was fast and i have zero complaints. I would recommend you buy this game!!! If you have a PS3 it will work on that so you don’t even need a ps1. Thank you!!!
Has all characters from MK 1- MK3. Very fun and has 2vs2 mode and a 8man tournament as well. Amazing.
Love It
Game has a few scratches but overall works fine
Mortal Kombat Trilogy is pure fun! It contains all of the characters from MK3 and MK3 Ultimate in addition to new playable characters. Plus, there are great modes such as 2 on 2 kombat, and an 8 person tournament, and I’m sure that it would be a fun and adrenaline-pumping challenge for even the most seasoned MK veteran. Overall, it’s a great game with plenty of challenges, great game modes, and a wide selection of characters, 32, to be exact, plus a classic version of Jax, Rayden, Kung Lao, and Kano from the first two games.
