It is something of a surprise that the Little League baseball video game turned out to be the best effort. Kids that loved baseball and video games during the Nintendo era would have to search far and wide to find a baseball video game that was both playable and fun. They certainly wouldn’t get it with Major League Baseball on NES, and the Jaleco baseball game on NES had numerous flaws, too. The RBI series flat-out stunk. Baseball Stars is serviceable for sure, but the only game that checks all the boxes is Little League Baseball Championship Series.Although the Little League World Series trademark is absent, it is fairly obvious that this game is seeking to emulate the world famous Little League baseball tournament in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. There are a number of teams to choose from in the United States, such as Texas, California, Florida, New York, Illinois, Arizona, Hawaii, and Pennsylvania, and there are a few more international teams such as China Tai Pei, Japan, South Korea, Puerto Rico, Canada, Mexico, Spain, and Italy. Notably absent is the Dominican Republic and Cuba, but I don’t believe Cuba participates in the LLWS anyway. Still, it would have been nice to have the option.Game modes are single player exhibition, single player in the Little League championship tournament, watching the computer play a game, or thankfully a two player head-to-head mode. What I find to be the best argument for this game is obviously the mechanics. The control is responsive, smooth,.
I played this game when I was a child in the 80’s and 90’s. I lost it along the way and when I got out my old NES, my play wasn’t complete without this game. I like it a lot.
Came as I thought it would. Looked great and like it was brand new. Can’t wait to give it to my cousin!
The game was in great shape.
Oh man, does this game bring back memories from my childhood. I lost this game in a house fire many years ago and re-ordered it. I have already put many hours into this game since ordering it, it is very addicting. In my opinion this is the best NES baseball game. The hitting, pitching and defensive controls are very responsive and smooth. While hitting, it’s challenging but not too challenging to judge balls and strikes, it gives a good feel of being up at the plate (well, as good of a feel that an NES game can give). The music is great, although very redundant, when my wife is around while I’m playing she thinks it’s very annoying. If you’re looking for a good NES baseball game, give this one a chance, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
