“Killer 7” is the hardest game to review. Gamers may appreciate the unusual gameplay mechanics, while frown that it’s not much of a “game”. People looking for a complex and well-written script and plot might be as totally involved in this story as I was, while even the most die-hard analyst will be frustrated by this bizarre and demented tale. Moralists will surely scream at how profane, disturbing, and cruel-spirited this game is, while the more observant will hopefully gain some insight into the nature of the mentally and emotionally damaged.I don’t believe I can accurately describe how this game functions, nor can I really narrow down whether people will like this game or not. I have never seen such a huge split among gamers as to whether a game is any good or not.So, because I think it’s best to leave that to other writers, who’ve published excellent reviews, I’m gonna throw in some cheap advertising. Those who’ve completed the game and want to enhance their experience about this original work of art should check out this website “” This analysis of “Killer 7” is nothing like you’ve ever seen. This man has answered every question I can think of about this game. Check it out!
This game is brilliant. Original, challenging, scary, unique, stylish, easy-to-master controls, and great graphics and gameplay. It’s basically a rail shooter. With puzzles.Very gory in certain parts, like animie actually.Brilliant game, I cannot recommend it enough. Ignore the haters, and buy this game. It’s pure genius. I can’t stop playing it.10/10 st*rs.HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommended! **********/**********
Awesome
This game is best discribed as a psychological break with a controller. You play as one of seven personalities, the main questions in the game is: which is the original? why the dead sometimes don’t die? why ALL the personalities seem to have had individual lives at one point? The graphics are a living breathing anime which requires some adjustment at first but, before too long your eyes fill in the gaps and the entire picture becomes 3D. The story is admittedly difficult to follow as far as origins of the characters, and who is working for who, so plan to play it at least twice to understand.while most complain that the movement is lacking, or simple, it becomes evident that if it were not so you’d be wandering the same halls over and over and think you’re getting somewhere. while providing an ‘easy play’ it’s definitley one you’re going to want to play again and again (if only to freak out your parents). This game contains stylised gore and severe sexual situations(but no nudity, go figure) so, if you don’t like these sorts of things then this is not the right game for you.
This game is seriously amazing. Although many people may not “get” this game(because its not call of duty derp)for those who do,it will probably end up being one of your favorite games. If you are looking for a unique and amazing game experience, look no further than here.
This game is wear… but its really interesting, like a bizarre movie, good history
Killer 7 is a mature title that combines film noir, horror, and first person shooting in a game that is extremely artistic and unique.Set in a futuristic but very bleak cel shaded world, you have the ability to morph between a number of gun-wielding individuals all named “Smith”. There’s Kaede Smith who is the only female, who wears a dress that barely covers her underwear. Garcian Smith is tall, dark skinned and handsome. Dan Smith is the forceful one, there’s a blind Smith, a masked Smith and so on. As in most games of this ilk, each Smith has his (or her) own strengths and weaknesses, so part of the puzzle of the game is to figure out who to use in each situation. There are a few puzzles, yes, but primarily the game is about shooting enemies at the indicated glowy yellow spot. A zombie-like creature staggers towards you. Their leg glows yellow. You shoot it and it explodes. In comes another, with a yellow glowing neck. You shoot the neck and it goes down. A larger glowing spot requires a powered up shot to take it out.I found the graphics both impressive in an artistic way and a bit old school in how they were rendered. It definitely showed an artist’s touch in the design of the characters and locations. However, the group which transferred them from the drawing board to the in-game system lost some of the shine along the way – many of the scenes looked “clunky”. I’ve seen several other film noir style titles on the GameCube that didn’t have the clunky problem, so it stood.
There’s an interview floating with Suda 51, the main man behind one of 4 formally Gamecube Capcom games(the other 3 being PN.03 which is only Gamecube so far, Viewtiful Joe which is multisystem now and Resident Evil 4 which has a PS2 version soon). The game was called Killer 7 and Suda answered a question about the gameplay: “I don’t know yet”. It was built from the ground up with the story/presentation and the gameplay came last, which is a big no-no in game development. May not be a typical game but boy is it something to be seen.Story: This is near Evangelion confusing, people(maybe less so). Basically in the year 2003, nuclear energy is banned, missiles destroyed and radioactive materials are disposed of. It’s a time of peace but a group called the Heaven’s Smiles are here to stop it. Freaky looking monsters roam the cities and they actually explode, making kamikaze-like soldiers. In comes Harlan Smith, a man in a wheelchair who has the ability to physically conjure up his 7 personalities(think the movie Identity) who have special abilities. So Harlan must battle the Heaven’s Smiles and it’s leader.Graphics: Outside of the game’s great anime cutscenes, the graphics almost look poor compared to Capcom’s Resident Evil 4. Hell even Viewtiful Joe. But it has a look on its own, going for a cel-shaded look but a bit less polished. Best way to describe them is stylish, not stunning on a “wow” scale but more on a unique one.Sound/Music: The music in the game is basically ambience.
I’m not new to writing reviews. I’ve done quite a few, on retrolio and elsewhere. Usually it’s pretty easy, but this Killer 7 review was actually very difficult, and took me a great deal of time to complete. There are NO WORDS that can adequately describe the Killer7 experience, and any real attempt to do so is doomed to become a rambling stream of metaphors and descriptions.I can’t in good conscience say “Buy this game right now”, only in part because of the intense content. Most people I’ve talked to are pretty polarized about Killer7: they either love it to death or hate it intensely. I’m one of the former, so of course they’re the correct group.Killer7 is one of the strangest, darkest, most controversial (or it would be, if more people knew about it) and overall great games I’ve ever played.STORY: Wow. Just… wow. Where do I begin? What can I possibly say? I can’t pretend to even understand half of the story, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s incomprehensible. It’s like Neon Genesis Evangelion, in that way; you sort of have to find your own meaning. What starts as the Smiths on just another mission to wipe out some Heaven Smile takes a turn for the (even more) bizarre, and… well, I’d have to start going into tedious details to elaborate any further. As you play through various missions, you realize that there is much more going on than simple terrorism. God-like beings, political scandals of global proportions, child organ trafficking and the true nature of the Unit.
