Illusion of Gaia is a little less known, but is a required play for fans of Chrono Trigger, any Final Fantasies, Zelda, Lunar: Silver Star Story, and Lost Odyssey. It’s as though the creaters have taken the best tidbits of all these games, and packed them into a Greatest Hits. Essentially, the layout, battles, and treasure finding is like Zelda, but that’s only a part of it, with the tremendous amount of storyline scenes, graphics, and perfect, ultra-inspiring storylines of Chrono Trigger and Lunar, mixed with a sadness near Lost Odyssey, and simply the quality that even makes other top titles great! Yet this title also stands apart in thr fact that it’s one of the most worldly, surrealistic, and sometimes, saddest RPG’s ever made. The premise is that Will, who had encountered the death of his father at an ancient ruin (all which reflect the natural ruins and wonders of our own world, but in an alternate, magical timeline), must travel the earth, through ancient ruins such as the Incans or Angkor Wat, to solve the mystery of a dark comet that is affecting the spirits of the Earth. Along the way, he meets several well-designed characters and companions, and discovers the conspiracies that the evil comet is influencing through royalty, slavery, and trade, all while learning a tremendous backstory to this timeline and the fate of the world. The creaters pulled the best of all aspects, creating some of the best soundtracks, graphics, storyline, chatacters, and overall quality and.
This is one of the games from my childhood that left the biggest impact on me. I would constantly be reminded of it in some way or another and every now and then I would think back on it with fondness. I was very glad to get it again. It’s in pretty good condition as were the map and manual that came with it. It’s as great as I remember and I look forward to playing it again and again.
Amazing game ! Plus the game cartridge I got looks brand new!! (Got it from "Cheap Old Games")
I had so much fun playing this game. I played this game not to long after I had played Secret of Evermore. I was so glad to have found yet another super fun rpg.I remember liking the story line; finding out what happened to the lost expedition and saving the world from the comet. The game has different and distinct looks in the world from all types of towns and villages, to a castle, along with different terrains. I liked gathering the information to advance in the game it wasn’t so hard that you would get frustrated too much, like in Chrono Trigger I had to make lots of notes. Taking a breath and thinking about something would get you past the issue. For that matter, I do not remember the puzzles being too hard or leveling up being difficult. I do not remember much backtracking like in some games. If you have ever played Secret of Evermore, Final Fantasy III or Secret of Mana this game is along those lines. I don’t think it is as large as the previously named games, but it is long enough to put a smile on your face. I don’t remember the exact hours I played this game, but I know it was over 40. I am glad I found and played this game.
I received this fairly quickly and the quality is that equal to new!
After playing Doom 3, F.E.A.R., Bioshock, and Dead Space, I gave this game a try. It blew all of them right out of the water. The story is powerful. The game-play is fantastic. I really can’t write a great big long review of this game. It’s absolutely fantastic. If you own a SNES, buy this game and play it. That’s the best advice I can give.Enjoy.
Originally called Soul Blazer II in Japan, this game completely knocked me off my chair. Its originality and replay vaule are through the roof, not to mention the cool music you get once in a while. You play as Will, a mysterious boy who seems to have Psychic powers. His friends seem to think that this power is some sort of Sixth Sense.Plenty of traveling in this game. You learn the mystery of Will’s past, and more as you travel through dangerous ruins, climb incredible heights, explore many towers, castles and more….This game fits together so well, you’ll end up replaying again and again, to try and find all 50 Jewels (the ultimate side-quest in the game). So, I’d call this game a rent, and if you can find it anywhere for a good used price, grab it!
Tested it in my retron 3 and it works. Happy to be playing this game.
Product came earlier than expected and it works.
This game is so twisty and devilish. It is worth being added to any Super Nintendo owner’s collection. It is that good.
