I like this game because it is different. I like the style of gameplay and the unique approach to a fighting game that it takes. Definitely worth adding to your collection if you are a strategy/action nerd and if you like the more unique games on the market.
My husband said it was everything the description said. He would buy from the buyer again.
This is one of the few gladioator type games I like. It’s a fantastic game. I can not believe there is no sequal to this game. This is a gladiator turn-based RPG game. The leveling up is great. The battles are like Knights of the Old Republic(how you choose what ability you use) and chess(sans the restricted movement). You choose from over 14 realistic classes (such as a legionare). The one thing I don’t like about this game is that you can only have 20 people max. What kind of gladiator school is that!? Oh, by the way, this game isn’t a total gore fest like some people say. The goriest parts are the drawn cutscenes. There is a little blood in the battles. This is a fantastic game.I’d reccomend it to anyone who likes RPGs and Gladiators.
I’ve played and enjoyed this game on both PS2 and Xbox. It’s a really fun tactical game a la Final Fantasy Tactics, in terms of board and units with different classes/skills and a leveling structure. The different attacks use a varying set of quick-time-event style activities to determine the effective of the attack. Not particularly hard, but if you are good at it it makes the game a lot easier. The important thing to note with the PS2 version: it seems buggier than I remember the Xbox version being.Major bug: You cannot effectively save your game if you have a ps1 memory card in a slot of your ps2. You have to remove it before you can save. Strange, I know, but there it is. I’ve had a couple of other minor bugs, and one crash. So my advice is to save your game often, just in case. Otherwise, enjoy your hacking and slashing. (Secutors with backstabber+surprise strike equal win)
I had fun playing Gladius for PS2. The graphics, story, and gameplay were all well-done. I think the voice-acting was a little wooden at times, but it didn’t detract significantly from the game experience. The thing that really stands out in the game is the strategic element. Learning to use the various classes in the proper way, as well as taking advantage of terrain variations, takes a bit of time, but it is necessary to be successful. The reason I didn’t give the game 5 stars is because the enemy AI in the game often did some pretty inexplicable things. For example, archers will often fire an arrow up into the air instead of defending themselves, even if they are really close to getting split in to by the nearest axe-wielding Samnite. And with free-for-all battles, one usually needed to merely stay put and wait for all the enemies to wipe each other out before mopping up the beat-up survivors.I thought that the game got fairly easy after the battle with those three goons right after winning the Imperial Championship, but the end made playing through the story worthwhile. Overall, it’s a great game.
Before I start to review this, let me say I had reserved this game 2 years before realease. That’s how much time, maybe even more, i would wait for this game. Wow. From the beautifully done opening sequence, to the intense brutality of the galdiator rings, this game is one of a kind. It has a Final Fantasy Tactics feel to it in the sense of the way you move and attack. In my opinion, the most innvoative feaeture is the swing meters. I like how if you time your swings right, you do more damage. Another thing that just blows me away is the animations. From Ursula’s spells to the incedible cut scenes. That brings me to another point. The acting in this game is phenominal. Kudos to the actors and writers!! Gladius also lets you create your own school. This makes for a very open ended experienece. It almost follows Baldurs Gate in the sense of having a story, but not really having to go with it. You can do quite a bit without the story. That is because of the Godly world map. Yes godly. This may be one of the best world maps i have ever seen. It rivals FF7 and Wild arms 2 in terms of vastness and beauty. I honesty spent 3 hours alone on the world map gazing at its supreme beauty. The arenas In this game really bring the experience together. They are all differnt and have differnt scenarios like King Of The Hill, Domination, Deathmatch, Fast-Money, and Beast Battles. This makes for an ever changing gameplay experience that never gets old!! I also love how the characters advance. It.
I used to rent this game when i was a kid! Now i own it and i STILL love it now. This game is perfect combination of Strategy and RPG with great characters and tons of items and skills. One perk i find particularly fun is freedom to customize your team. You get to choose which members to lead you on to victory, and you get to choose each of their skills and even color schemes to your desire. The only problem i can see with this game is that it might get a bit repetitive for some players who like more ACTION type games. Regardless, i see this game as very unique!I highly suggest that lovers of STRATEGY type games give this one a try.
Fun game. No scratches. Worked as expected.
great CD and graet condition !!
This is one of those games you set the school/work clock ahead on friday to get home early for. The story line is well thoughtout and the graphics/portraits are amazing. Great by that is well worth the money.
