First off – im in the older generation – my fiance and I picked this game up and have to say it is a total blast to play – granted the graphics are not top of the line – but the excitement of fighting a fish on your line is amazing- I was thinking of getting sega fishing or hooked but took this to try it out and am glad i did- yes its arcady and yes cartoony but still the most fun i have had on the wii to date- it really gets intense when you hook a fish – i hope they make a second one that would include multi player over wi fi –
We bought this game on a whim out of a gold box deal having no idea what we were getting. I figured if we got a few hours of play out of it, then it wasn’t money completely wasted. Turns out, we have got more than a few hours out of it!We love it. It’s one of our family night choices. We play it until we get wii-bow (like tennis elbow, but from wii) from jerking the line to keep from losing the big fish. We haven’t even gone on too many quests to find the mythical fishes because we are having too much fun competing with each other! I also like that you have to earn money to buy rods and bait which really helps my daughter understand that sometimes, you have to work for things you want. It’s complex enough keeping up with what fish likes what bait and which fish lives where that they adults stay plugged in and its fun enough that the kids want to keep on trying and are not missing out because they cant keep up with the specifics.I gave it four stars because the game isn’t what I would consider beautiful. The graphics leave a bit to be desired and the fishing spots you can get to by walking are a bit limited. In the end, I think you should buy it!
This is my favorite fishing game for the Wii. You can fish in different areas, buy bait, new equipment, enter tournaments etc. Plus you get a really cute dog companion that gets really excited when you have hooked a big fish. The reason I ordered it from retrolio was because it was sold out in all my local stores.
fun game
My husband and I are enjoying this game so much that we’re keeping it instead of giving it to the grand children! (We’ll buy another) I just wish my husband would quit winning all the time!
Bought this for my 6 and 12 year old kids. Basic but fun.Even the younger one can get the hang of casting and reeling in a fish. It is a direct port from an original Japanese language game.
This budget title is surprisingly entertaining. Despite N64-era graphics and generic anime characters, the gameplay is fun and addictive. Mastering casting and reeling took only a couple tries, and doesn’t require a lot of finesse or remote-waggling. The game makes no attempt to be a hardcore realistic fishing sim, and that’s the fun. There’s plenty of variables like seasons, bait, and location to affect your catch, but not so much that it’s overwhelming. Tournaments, quests, and the challenge of catching all the rare fish should keep you busy for many hours. It’s a shame there’s no multiplayer co-operative mode for the full game, only a head-to-head minigame. A good pick for the price, and fans of Wii Sports will probably enjoy this one.
Fishing Master is the great Arcade style fishing game to hit the Nintendo Wii. You can choose from an array of different types of bait. Fishing Master is fishing fun for the whole family! Cast your line with the Wii Remote. And start reeling with your Nunchuck. Usually, my son (5 years old) and I become a team and try to open new spot for fishing and I can teach him what kinds fish living in different area. Fish Encyclopedia – Learn more than just fishing techniques. My son love to play this game with me. you also can test your fishing skills in your quest to become a Fishing Master in over 30 fishing tournaments in single player mode. A true Fishing Master learns about every fish you catch in the game. ESRB Rated E for Everyone
Got this for my 5 year old son because he really likes fishing. We are both having a great time playing this game. He was able to pick up the controls in about 15 minutes. It is pretty cool that you can hook a fish right away instead of having to wait around for a bite like on some other fishing games. The graphics are not very good but who cares when the game is so much fun to play. Using the Numchuck to reel in a fish feels very realistic. This game is a great value for the $29 price.
My 8yr old son and I are not serious gamers but do love to fish. This was the only game he asked for with his new Wii and I was a bit hesitant with the purchase. Luckily it has been a HUGE hit. We have played this game non stop since getting it for Christmas. He got numerous other highly rated Wii games but this one is by far our favorite. He quickly got to be a fishing master by winning tournaments as we got access to more islands but we are now only 2 fish away (out of 140+ varieties) of completing our fishing log. We just can’t wait to see what fish we bring in next. We have been playing in the mode where you can see the fish shadows in the water but once we complete the entire game, we will turn off the shadows and the challenge will be greater to land all of the fish. We have also found that it is almost as much fun to watch the other person fish as it is to fish yourself. The anticipation of the next catch is completely addictive. I’ve sat down many time to fish for 30 minutes and have to drag myself away hours later. The fighting action and bait needed to catch many species of fish are very close to reality (those trout fight like crazy for small freshwater fish!). There are a few of the Rare fish that are not real but they are entertaining to see once you land them.Yes, the graphics aren’t the greatest but who cares. If you love to fish, you will love this game.
