Santa got this for our daughter last christmas, it worked great until April (the warranty was only 90 days so I was out of luck there). She was 3 at the time and she could do everything (unlike Curious George and other ‘preschool’ games). In April it started making that terrible noise another reviewer mentioned, so we got our PS2 serviced. Worked great for about 10 days. I have now had the game resurfaced and cleaned and it still won’t work. I called support for Take 2, the manufacturer and they told me that it is a jewel case DVD and older PS2’s tend to have trouble with this game either due to the drive, the laser or both. So I called Sony, they didn’t know anything about it and have now offered to let me exchange our PS2, on which EVERY other game we have, and we have upwards of 4 dozen, works fine, for a refurbished model and it will only cost me $45 additional dollars. So I now have spent $40 on a game that did work but now doesn’t, another $35 or so getting the system and game checked out and still don’t have a game that works. My daughter is upset and I’m just aggravated. We love the game but unless you have a newer PS2 – steer clear.
LOVE IT
Greetings fellow Dora the Explorer fans from your favorite professor of semiotical dialectic! For those of you not aware of the Dora the Explorer phenomenon, and I imagine the numbers are very few and have probably been living under that proverbial rock, Dora the Explorer is the title character and intrepid explorer of strange lands who, with the help of her ever-faithful simian companion “Boots” (so named for his enduringly waggish habit of sporting red boots), the astutely observant and conversational backpack (though it could be a mochila, which would be in keeping with the putative origins of Dora’s peoples, though I, of course, consider her to be the Universal Everyimp) and lastly, but not leastly, the serially musical map, searches out clues, presents different options to the viewer, waits patiently for your response, and then with buddhistic grace and gnomic enthusiasm congratulates your discriminating acumen. It must be experienced to be truly understood. Now Global Star Software has brought Dora the Explorer to the voluntary compliance of gaming enthusiasts everywhere, allowing anyone with a PS2 or GameCube consol the thrill of vicarious exploration through the self-actualized avatar of Dora the Explorer! My excitement was such that I may have temporarily lost control of certain sphinctating muscles and ever so slightly urinated myself.More along the lines of a Shakespearean rather than an ancient Greek comedy, the plot of “Dora the Explorer: Journey to the Purple Plan.
Bought this game for my grand daughter who loves Dora. Will keep her busy at home while mom does chores.
My son is five and really enjoyed this game. He has not been playing the PS2 long and this was the first game that he actually beat, which made him very happy. However, now that he has seen other games, he is not so intrested in playing Dora anymore. The graphics just are not as good as other games, but it is excellent for younger players. There is no violence or loss of life. There is counting, colors and music. It also helped build his skills for other games, though I do not know if that is a good thing, because now he wants to play all the time!
This game has been a blessing to my children. My 4 year old & 5 year old can play without my help and my 2 year old loves to watch. You can’t ask for anything better than that. Good graphics and very easy. They just keep playing over and over again.
My 3 year old daughter loves this game I have to limit her time on it so she doesn’t become a couch potato! It is very fun and is educational!
This is a very good video game for children it has lots of learning tool’s for them to grow and learn as well. I would recommend this video to all parent’s it’s a good learning video.
Just as described!
My daughter loves this game. It is easy enough for her to play it all by herself. The only setback is that it is easy to finish the game quickly.
