I am re-playing it on my ps3. Beat it for ps2. I really like it. It’s like a Bond style game. The only ps3s that play ps2 games are the 20, 60 and 80 gb.
This game is a pretty cool actioner with a nice variation of weapons and gadgets to use in your missions. The music is good and doesn’t end up annoying you as you play through the game. The sound effects are really good also and the graphics are quite stunning.I found the dialogue pretty funny in places and when you get any swearing it’s not just for the sake of it, it’s always justified. Overall the game is a lot of fun to play, my only gripes would be that it’s a little on the short side, and sometimes you tend to get a little bit of slowdown on screen, especially when a lot is going on, but it really doesn’t detract too much from the gameplay.I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes first person shooters as this is a bundle of fun, and if you can get hold of it cheaply, then you’ve got a great bargain!
I have played the first few levels of Cold Winter. It has good graphics, good gameplay and controls, and the level design is fairly creative. I like the action in this game, you really feel like you have to get something done — complete your mission! And don’t get killed! This is not the best shoot-em-up I’ve ever played but it certainly is entertaining.
Cold Winter is indeed a sleeper, as other reviewers have stated here.It will remind players of both GoldenEye (N64) and Half Life. It deserves to be kept in a first-person-shooter collection.I’m glad I found it! Like a lot of casual console gamers, I am sticking to my PS2 until there is a must-own game for the PS3 (which will probably be GTA4). So I searched the back catalog for quality shooters to add to my game collection. I found Project Snowblind, the Socom series, Killzone, Freedom Fighters, and this gem. It could have been published in 2000, given that its traits and engine are strongly influenced by Half Life (my favorite FPS ever).Cold Winter has 8 medium-sized environments, split into 15 levels total. An experienced gamer could breeze through the game in under 14 hours. There is nothing groundbreaking in its puzzles, interactive environment, or graphics. But Cold Winter does everything very well. Smooth frame rates, great voice acting and sound effects, fair cut scenes, descent story, good AI, excellent real-world weapon inventory, and most important, excellent gameplay and intuitive controls. You will be engaging in firefights within minutes of saving your profile. As is the case with older, less sophisticated first person shooters, being stealthy only delays the inevitable – you are going to have to engage the enemy and get into serious firefights. But at least with being stealthy you can take-out the bad guys more swiftly (usually with a grenade or a sho.
I think the best part of this game is going head to head with up to 3 friends. Realistic weapons and environments make it more enjoyable for me than some others in this Genre.
No issues been playing it in and off for almost a year and nothing but good things to say
This is right up there in the top 5 PS2 shooters. If you liked Black, Everything or Nothing, the old-school Goldeneye (N64), Syphon Filter, MGS, SOCOM, etc., then you’ll like this one.
Game 3 of 3 ordered with this vendor so far,I can’t say enough how great itis to see games in really good condition, items as described-and well kempt though. Thanks jonmusic.
I’d hadnt ever heard of this game till i saw it on retrolio. I loved the graphics the weapons, the aiming. and especially kim (big boobed side kick.) the game was a ton of fun and very few complaints. but like all good there is almost alwasy bad. The bad, game had a ton of bugs. Like Chairs floating and dead bodies stuck in mid air. At one point you can see straight threw the walls. but the story line and the graphics were way above average. i wish i had a 4.5 button instead of a 4 or 5 cause this game fell perfectly inbetween. Deffiently worth playing u wont regret it!!!
First off, how could you not like Cold Winter? The multi-player gameplay in this game is by far better than any game including Bond. Yes, I said it, COLD WINTER MULTI-PLAYER GAMEPLAY IS BETTER THAN BOND. The weapons in Cold Winter are very realistic and damagable. The explosives are also very realistic. Playing Cold Winter with 4 players is recommended but, again, multi-player is amazing with anybody in this game. One awesome ( and gross) part of this game is when you kill an enemy you can shoot a body part off them including their head, leg, etc. The only downfall to this game is that SOME of the levels aren’t that good but most of them are very good and big. There is a variety of people you can choose your player to be in multi-player also. Regular single-player gameplay is also very good too. Bottom line: Cold Winter is a must-buy game.
