This is a good basic guide for Breath of Fire. I have used it for the Nintendo Gameboy Advance version, and it works just fine for it. Someone else complained because it was mostly (except for a few central pages) black and white. This makes no sense, as it works just fine for what you want a guide to do. Has all the maps, and bestiary, and all the boss fights covered. If you want something flashier, I guess you might be disappointed.
I’m an avid game collector and thus I also collect many player’s guides. I have around 50 player’s guides and I think this one is definately one of the best. It has extremely useful maps and good strategies for beating all of the bosses. I beat the game before I got this book, but I decided to get it anyway and I think this book is well worth the money. Rusel is one of the best player’s guide authors; I have many of his books. So, if you got this game, get the book, it’s well worth the price and you won’t be sorry.
Excellent strategy guide even in 2014. It is in black and white, but that’s the only flaw. The guide has maps for every area, lists items in every area, tells you about all sidequests, has next to no errors and the directions are very well written. This is a MUST OWN guide!
I owned this guide as a child and I still own the original SNES cartridge and game my father bought me back in 1994 and I still play it and while both the guide and game are basic, the guide is rather helpful. Most of the dungeons are straightforward but the truth is there are little hints and tips that you’d never have been able to figure out back in the 90’s unless either you had this guide or you had a friend who figured it out as the internet wasn’t readily available for most people.Yes the guide is in black and white, save for a few insert pages as back then…color strategy guides weren’t as common. I didn’t have my first color guide until either Final Fantasy VI or Super Mario RPG Legend of the Seven Stars came out.So while it may not be in color, don’t let that dissuade you from buying this piece of gaming history from one of the companies that pioneered the concept of strategy guides in the west.
