I didn’t know what to expect when I bought this game, but I soon found out. If you have never played this game you really must. It is brilliant. The graphics, gameplay, storyline, controls, and everything else worked perfectly. I loved this game because it made you feel like Batman. Some of you might say that the storyline was confusing because of all the characters, but i personally thought it was a very well put together storyline. Over all I would buy this game ten times over. There is just so much to do that you never get bored! I highly recommend this game to anyone, even if you don’t like Batman.
Pros: Story-line, graphics, gameplay, controls, length of game, vivid charactersCons: Missions can get frustrating, combat a little too easyI consider myself more of a sports (NBA2K, Madden, Fifa) and first person shooter (Socom, Modern Warfare) type of gamer but as far as third-person action/adventure games this one just about tops the list. This is the best non-sports/non-shooter game since Red Dead Redemption, and about 5 hours into the game I’d say it’s a level above. The characters are all very vivid and the controls are very natural. There are so many nuances to the game that the ease of combat can be overlooked (you can literally mash buttons and destroy your enemies). Some of the missions are pretty difficult and it can be frustrating to have a villain tell you how much you suck when you die (and die, and die, and die) but the sense of accomplishment you get when you finish them is great.Without giving too much away, I’d recommend this game to anyone (especially after the price drop) whether you are a fan of Batman or not. One of the coolest features of the game is how the final blow of each fighting sequence is slowed down and emphasized. Play the game and you’ll see what I mean. This game is suitable for both kids and adults ages 12+
If you liked Arkham Asylum (“AA”) you can stop reading- just go ahead and buy this. The move to an “open world” style of play leads to tons of things to do and see. Batman is even more flexible with regard to play style than the prior game. That said, there seems to be more puzzles and jumping games than last time. If you like those, you are in luck. After a while I started to ignore the Riddler challenges which stopped being fun and were more like a chore. What never got old was exploring the city and randomly listening in on criminals. And the fighting mechanism is even better than AA.Downside for me was forcing us to download the entire Catwoman portions solely to punish later used game buyers. Also the amount of puzzles got old after a bit- once you are “on mission” the path is more on rails like AA was.Still, this is great fun and even better than AA.
I purchased this game for my husband & his friends, loved playing it. They spend hours competing against each other. Its money well spent family, kids and neighbors love playing this game.
I was looking for a new game to play and some nerdy kid in gamestop was flipping out over this batman game. So I gave it a try and its pretty awesome. You can walk around like in a Grand Theft Auto, and the rendering is stunning. Some of the best graphics I’ve played on PS3 yet. As far as the 3D image quality goes, I have an active shutter 3D TV and the 3D graphics are alright. I prefer playing without the 3D as its not that amazing. It pretty much pops some images in and out at you, and you. You can use this with either passive or active shutter by the way. And to set up 3D you just go to your options menu. I haven’t heard any bad reviews on this game. People told me get this over uncharted 3 because I wanted a game with more story line and more to do. I recommend it highly.
Excellent game.
This game is brilliant. A perfect sequel to Arkham Asylum. When I knew about the this Batman saga, I had to play it, and I have no regrets about it. I think it’s on my Top3 Videogames, only because my Number 1 will always be Nintendo’s TOZ Zelda: A Link To The Past. But talking about the game. The fact that you have a whole city to explore, that you can move with freedom, and the diversity of missions you have to accomplish are just a few elements that will make you play this game with joy. The graphics are excellent, sometimes too much to make some transitions in the environment, but nothing to worry about.Plus, the fact that, as Arkham Asylum, you are able to discover an inside story about some characters makes this title so complete.Hope you can play this game o enjoy it as much as I did
delivered on time, with great response time on questions, product as described, recommended
This was one of my favorite PS3 games of all time, tied with Last of Us and Red Dead Redemption. Arkham Asylum was good too. Play that first, then City. There is so much to do. After finishing the main quest, go back and unlock all the cool extras like Riddler trophies and more. Just a ton of stuff to do.
Batman: Arkham City is a game I’ve been waiting for a long time. Believe me, I’m not disappointed in the least. I can only think of a couple of minor problems with the game.1. The unnecessary profanity. I know some people want a Batman for a mature audience, but the strong language seems a little forced. Every time a character cusses out of the blue, I can feel them winking at me; As if to say “how cool is it that a Batman game has profanity”. It’s so ridiculous, I catch myself lauging sometimes. Really? Joker cussing? I’m not impressed.2. The Game has a few glitches. Characters would get stuck in walls and one time I had Batman interrogating thin air. The thug dropped to ground before Batman could grab him.3. The Game was kind of short, I wish there was more. The game is still much bigger than Arkham Asylum, though.Like I said, those were minor issues. I still love this game to death. I’d say it’s better than Arkham Asylum. Here’s hoping they create sort of expansion pack for the campaign. The Catwoman missions are alright for what they are, but it’s not a must. If you buy the game used, you have to pay an additional $10 to play the Catwoman missions, but I could do without it. The graphics are pretty much the same, maybe slightly improved, though I haven’t played the 1st game in a while. The gameplay is what really shines in this game. You can do more here than in the 1st game. The combat system has been expanded. There’s a new gliding system so you can basically fly throu.
