The world of Baten Kaitos is a world adrift in time and space. Humanity forges its existence on an archipelago of land floating in a yawning, endless sky. The earths below and the vast oceans it once harbored are mere legend. It is by no means a tranquil existence. A sinister conspiracy is afoot, one that threatens to tear these few remaining rafts of land from the heavens and erase forever the memory of the seas below. At first, I wasn’t sure… but once I got used to the battle system (and turned the voice tracks off!) I was hooked! By playing special combinations of cards I created powerful new cards for attacking and curing. I leveled my players up, so defensive cards could be kept to a minimum in their decks. I took pictures of enemies and sold them for a neverending supply of money. I fought each enemy until I had plenty of the best magnus it dropped. I completed every sidequest I encountered to receive even more magnus. I aimed for discovering all 1000+ varieties of magnus cards. Baten Kaitos has so many layers… This game is awesome.
so far Baten Kaitos is my absoulute favorite game, it has tons of twist in the plot and so many magnus (playing cards used in the game). the game is set in a era were land floats in the sky and the ocean and earth are all but mere legends. we join Kalas, a headstrong kid who joins up with Xhela, a girl out to stop a conspirousy to resurect a evil god. has they battle through, others join them. Gibari, a tough fisherman of Diadem. Lyude, Former Ambasoder of the Alfard Empire. Savyna, a mysterious hunter who lives in Anuanua. then Mizuti, a strange being from another world. the game play is also unique, useing a card based system but not Yu-gi-oh kind and dazzaling special effects. the one thing i didn’t like and i bet all of you agree is the voice overs, i mean some sounded absolutly terrible but nontheless i didn’ really care so just try to ignore it. i hope they come out with a sequel and if they do i want better voice overs, even more dazzaling sights, and even more Magnus. if all this is checked will be the first to get it. buy this great game
Many hours of fun play!
Came in earlier than expected considering it’s Christmas time so I was super happy about that. :) The game only had little to few scratches which is perfect, didn’t expect it to be in such nice condition but it is! Happy the original case along with the guide was in there (I’ve completely forgotten the controls by now.) And totally forgot there was 2 discs which, again, both are in awesome shape! Thank you so much for this. Definitely would buy stuff from you again.:)
I love this game so much, if you like JRPGs you will also love this game (I’m not even the biggest fan of them and I love almost everything about this game). Do yourself a favor and play it. 10/10
I love this game!! :DThe voice acting is iffy, but the story and the battle system make up for it big-time!
I love this game and it is now ranked up there with FFX on my list of awesome RPGs. I really love this game, it’s as simple as that. I recently bought a GCN solely for the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess that will be coming out soon and was just wandering the aisles looking for anything decent when I happened upon this bad boy. Everything about Baten Kaitos is ingenious– battle engine is awesome and intuitive, graphics are amazing, and storyline is incredible. I’m a die hard RPG fan and have grown tired of the same hack and slash, cast magic, heal your party, etc… that’s out there. BK answers the call of breaking through the monotony via a card-based battle system and it works very well. Leveling seems like less of a chore since every battle is literally different; each time you’ll be dealt different cards to use. The customization of each player’s deck is also emjoyable for those who like card-based games. The utility of time is a really cool aspect. For example, if you hang on to some green bananas (an attack item at first. You chuck ’em at the enemy) they’ll ripen and become a healing item. Hang on to them for too long and they become rotten and their status changes again. Cards can also be combined to create new cards– mix up some Light magic with a flower bud and you have a flower, etc… The manner in which you collect money is the most creative system I’ve encountered and I really like it. You aren’t paid for every victory– you have to take pictur.
All right, people. Get excited. GET VERY EXCITED!!!!!!! Baten Kaitos is a GameCube RPG that is due out this fall. What looks so appealing about it, you ask? Well, let’s start from the top. The publisher, Namco, has done such prestigious games as "Xenosaga" and "Tales of Symphonia". What’s more, the development team has also lent their genius to games such as "Chrono Cross", "Xenogears", and "Xenosaga". Still not convinced? Than let me tell you the CONTENT of the game. As I have already told you, it is an RPG, which, according to Namco, has over 60 hours of gameplay. The game’s basic story is as follows: It has been many centuries since humankind defeated the Wicked God in a terrible war that ultimately forced them to live on islands in the sky, where the oceans of the planet became nothing more than a legend. (For a reason which is probably directly related to this, many of the characters seem to have wings.) Anyway, there seems to be some sort of empire that seeks to revive the ancient god, and your characters have to fight them. In what is possibly an RPG first, the game puts you, not into the role of the main character, (a boy named Kalas,) but that of a spirit who advises him throughout his journeys. The game’s intriguing special feature is that items, spells, equiment and more are stored on over 1,000 "Magnus Cards". With this in mind, battles are turn-based, and revolve around the cards. Also, the items on the.
The game came in quickly and it was in perfect condition! I can’t wait to play this game again!
Baten Kaitos is an odd game. It has a story with some genuine surprises. It has a combat system which is actually extremely fun, within an RPG. It has a setting which is downright bizarre in parts, which nonetheless manages to work. It has fairly shallow characters which nonetheless manage to be interesting. It has terrible voice acting, yet the voice acting within combat is nonetheless strong, and the rest can be turned off anyways. All of these elements somehow come together to produce a unique experience, which is consistently highly enjoyable.
