Love this game, great jrpg, Dragonball Z animation style. Super fun to play. Fantastic storyline.
I’ve had no problems at all with the game, plats very well, like it, love it, thank you very much!
Dragon Quest VIII is a great send up to the old JRPG’s of the 90’s and 80’s. When one thinks about it, the story is pretty basic. Evil being enchants King and Princess and it is up to the intrepid Hero to save them and the Kingdom. The characters themselves are surprisingly 3-dimensional, with the exception being, of course the silent hero. That is my only gripe, though it is a minor one. The graphics are very well done for the time and the character designs are great, done of course by Mangaka, Akira Toriyama. The battle system, reminiscent of Final Fantasy, is a good one and easy to master. I recommend this game highly.
Been wanting to pick this game back up. Fair price for a good game.
Very good classic style J-RPG. Loved the first play through but unfortunately I was not drawn in to replay it like I have with other RPGs.Loved the art and the music was enjoyable but not really memorable. Plot wasn’t very original, but what is these days? They kept it going with lots of humor. It’s been a year or so since I’ve played through it and I can’t even remember if there was a romance… that’s usually something I can always remember in a story. Game play was great for anyone who appreciates the classic turn based stuff. All in all worth a play.
In terms of classics, this one is way up there in the top tier of video games.I originally purchased this game the day it came out in the days of the PS2. I have always been a fan of Akira Toriyama’s art style, so the visuals were immediately appealing to me. The orchestrated soundtrack offers great music to add to the overall scope of the game.So fast forward to 2014. The reason I repurchased the game was because I had originally sold my PS2 and all of my games in order to purchase a PS3. So a sudden desire to replay DQ8 hit me, so I here we are. Despite the fact that the game is about a decade old, I still found myself thoroughly enjoying the game. If anyone is a fan of old school role playing games such as Final Fantasy, then you should do yourself a favor and give this game an opportunity to capture you with its charming cast of characters, superb music, and gripping story. Yes the visuals are not HD, and the sound isn’t 7.1 DTS, but despite its age, it’s still very playable. The game itself is about 40+ hours, depending on whether you take the time to do all of the quests that are available in the game.
This game is one of the best games on the PlayStation 2
It was a fast delivery and the gameplay Rocks no complaints here
Haven’t yet to play this (been on a PS2 RPG kick for awhile-Persona, FF, etc.) but I will say that the game came in very good condition, with only miniscule wear on the case artwork. This will be the first DQ game I have played, so I am really looking forward to it!
As someone that started out playing the original DW on NES in my F@#$ING diapers, take it from me that this game is worth the purchase. I heard bad reviews about it when it first launched, but it is so true to the series. Everything that you loved about past DW games is in this game, and then some. ***SPOILER ALERT*** Darth Vader is Luke Skywalker’s dad.
