Tales of Symphonia
Tales of Symphonia is an action role-playing game release for the Nintendo GameCube on August 29, 2003, in Japan. It was publish by Namco and is the fifth core product of the Tales series. But the game was localize and release in North America on July 13, 2004. And in Europe on November 19, 2004. In Japan, the game was ported for the PlayStation 2 with additional content and was release on September 22, 2004.
However, the game takes place in a fictional world called Sylvarant and follows Lloyd Irving. And Lloyd accompanies his childhood friend, Colette Brunel, who is destine to go on a journey to save their world. But as their journey progresses, they learn that saving Sylvarant endangers Tethe’alla, a world parallel to their own. Also the game’s central theme is an “RPG that resonates with you” (君と響きあうRPG, Kimi to Hibikiau RPG).
Gameplay
Like previous installments in the Tales of Symphonia series, Tales of Symphonia consists primarily of three major areas: an overworld field map, town and dungeon maps, and a battle screen. However, the overworld map is a 3D model, featuring a scale-down version of the game’s fictional world which the player travels through to reach the game’s locations. As with preceding games in the series, the world map can be traverse by foot, on the party’s quadrupedal pet Noishe. And on flying vehicles known as Rheairds. On field maps, characters direct across realistically scale environments. Also the battle screen is a 3D representation of an area, in which the player commands the characters in battles against CPU-control enemies.
Moreover, on the overworld and field maps, various skits between the characters can be view. They involve animated character portraits, subtitles, and, in the Japanese version, full voice acting. Skits concern anything from character development to side details. And overworld map skits affect Lloyd’s relationships with other party members. Also the player will be able to make certain decisions that imperceptibly affect how the other characters think of Lloyd. But some of these choices have minor ramifications for the game’s storyline.
Battle system
During battle sequences, the game uses the Multi-Line Linear Motion Battle System. Four characters from the party are chosen to battle; those not control by a player are guide by artificial intelligence with instructions set by the player beforehand. However, damage dealt to the opponent fills a “Unison Gauge”. When this is full, a “Unison Attack” can be trigger. And allow the party to use techniques simultaneously on a single enemy. When certain techniques are combine, a special attack results in additional damage.
After battle, a currency Grade is grant or subtract base on specific criteria that are fulfill in battle. It is use to purchase bonuses during New Game Plus. Also players are prompt to cook food after battles if they have the materials. Cooking recipes determine the benefits receive such as health recovery. And the degree of the benefit is determine by which character is chosen to cook.
Moreover, Tales of Symphonia’s skill system is built around the use of “EX Gems”, which come in four ranks. And each character can equip up to four EX Gems and set abilities to those gems. The abilities determine if the characters will learn Strike or Technical techniques and spells. Also combinations of EX Gem abilities can grant additional abilities “EX-Skills”. The development of a character’s attributes is determine by their issue “Title”. And titles are earn through story progression, side quests, or completion of miscellaneous criteria.

I have edited this review after finishing the game. (…)A long time ago, the tree of mana whithered away because of a ferocious war that raged across the lands. A hero gave his life to save the tree. This so grieved the goddess of mana that she left for the heavens asking her angels to awaken her for if she slept the world would whither away like the tree. Thus the angels job became to guide the “chosen one” to the heavens so that she/he may awaken the goddess and regenerate the world. Now A young girl named Colette the Chosen One, has recieved her calling and she must journey to regenerate the world. Her Best friends Lloyd (the main Character of the game), and Genis decided to go with her to protect her.The plot starts off feeling eerily similar to Secret of Mana. Not only that it seems like a cheesier version of that to begin with. But as you delve deeper into Lloyd & Colette’s journey it starts to come into its own. This game has depth. It deals with issues of politics, religion, discrimination, & friendship. There are many twists and turns all supported by a brilliant & complex cast of characters. Further every so often you have the option of following conversations between your characters as they journey which help add more depth to their characters.Now on to the graphics & sound. The visuals are gorgeous. The Colors are bright, and the locations are lush. The animation is smooth, and after some major events you are treated to a hand drawn anime cut scene. The s.
I really do like this game, but I have my issues with it. The game begins a little slow, and you have to complete a few dungeons before the real story starts. However, the middle of the game will have you on the edge of your seat waiting for the next turn of events. The story follows Collette, the “chosen” of a land that has fallen into decay, Lloyd, a young, rash swordsman who was raised by a dwarf, and Genis, a genius elf magician. In order to bring prosperity back, they must unlock spirit seals while avoiding capture by the Desians, a race which uses humans as slaves. I have always loved RPGs and games with huge open worlds, this has both! It also has a very captivating story, and characters. It has aged very well and is even getting a remake! The controls for this game are hard to get used to, but it is defiantly worth buying if you can get your hands on a copy!
I got this game sooner than expected, and i was really surprised! But soon to end the excitement was the game disk not working. As soon as i put the game in the gamecube, the “Error, could not read game disk” sign came up… and i tried it like 20 times, then I cleaned the disk as best as I could, and the game still would not be read. I also tried it in my Wii, thinking it would be read incase the gamecube was broken, but got the same result /: i wasx really lookin forward to playin this game is it possible to exchange it…If you could please reply as soon as you possible can that would be great… thank you.AwtumnSc
This game is fantastic. I played it Coop with my wife and she loved it so much that she went online and watched the cartoon and played through it a second time with the New Game+ option.

This game is awesome! I beat it in a total of 65 hours and surprisingly the story mode has you latched on a majority of the time, every thing is well put together and graphics are great(for year of GameCube) plenty of characters to choose from and if you want a game that you has a incredible long interesting story mode than this hear is your game! Many weapons, many choices, long journeys
