X-Men Legends is a real-time role-playing game where players put together their own team of X-Men heroes to combat such legendary foes as the Morlocks. Brotherhood of Mutants. And Sentinels. Moreover, in true role-playing game fashion. But players control their group of X-Men characters to take benefit of each individual’s special powers. And abilities while in combat. However, each character becomes more experienced in battle. Also his or her powers will grow over time. And new fighting moves become available to help the character develop into a more formidable opponent.
However, players will assemble their party from a lineup of more than 15 characters. Including popular favorites Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Gambit, and Beast. This is a great game overall. It’s like a blend between Double Dragon (from NES days) and Final Fantasy Tactics… sort of! From graphics to voice acting (including Patrick Stewart as Xavier) to a very decent script, this game is well-rounded. I think fans (like myself) of the X-Men as well as new comers to the genre will both like it. Read on for more detail about the game.The basic theme is that you run around various missions, moving in real time, and encounter all sorts of enemies. Every mission is part of an evolving plotline that involves classic X-Men villains like Magneto and Shadow King. You control one X-Man at a time, but you can have up to 4 X-Men in a party. If you’re playing one-player mode, by pushing the directional pad on the controller up, down, left or right you switch to a different X-Man in your team. So, if you’re fighting up close and personal, you can go to Wolverine but if Sentinels drop in and you want to fight while retreating, you can rely on Cyclop’s optic blasts.Every X-Man is fully customizable. You control what ability they develop (will you max out Wolverine’s healing factor or focus on his claw attacks? Will Iceman be a ranged attacker or melee? etc.) and how they raise in stats. You can also equip them with armor and items you find (though the system is pretty simple here with only 3 equipable spots per X-Man). In combat, you push R2 in combination with circle, triangle, X or square to activate a different ability, so it’s not t.
This game was epic. It is very similar Marvel Ultimate Alliance and its sequel(because it’s from the same companies!!) but unlike those games, you need health kits and energy kits to refill you stats. The gameplay is just like those games but the obvious feature missing is the button to block!!! Then again, it has a variety of characters to play. Whether it’s fan favorites like wolverine or nightcrawler or new ones you never heard of or read in the comics(Magma being probably the newest when I played), the game overall has a decent storyline. It also lets you explore the x-mansion and the classrooms, outdoors and indoors of the place:) That’s what makes the game a interesting and a lasting experience. You also can play levels based on famous x-men stories(like wolverine when he was being a experiment for weapon X or the Nothing Stops the Juggernaut issue). This game is must have for a x-men fan!

I haven’t played video games for many years. The last video game I played was the Ultimate Alliance series but before that…I think it was Sega Genesis. I liked this game because it isn’t overwhelmingly difficult. It’s just a player’s game. There were points where I got lost but I enjoyed playing it.

What I like about it was the fact the delivery guy took a picture of it on my door step.Now the game is a definite throwback to my early 20s love it. X-Men Legends is a must to any video games collection.
