This game is Awsome i have pre-played it. the graphics arent as good but the game play is the best. The is no more auto defence un less you want it. There is the FRANCISE mode, HOME RUN DERBY, EXIBITION and more. You Can created and train a player, and go through Spring training. I Cant wait for the August 10 release date im going to pre order this game. I Recommend this game to any one who likes baseball and video games.
For those of us who have not bought the awesome PS2, this game is definitely worth getting. There is not a baseball game that even comes close to this one when you look at the available titles for PS1 or N64. With the exception of Griffey on N64. But even then, the graphics can not compete with WSB 2k2. If you do own a PS2, then you might want to check out some of the baseball games that it has to offer. But all in all, this game has a lot to offer and is definitely worth the [price]. Graphics are great. Play control is awesome. Good amount of options although it could use a little more. Sound is ok but the crowd sounds could be a little more realistic. Anyone who buys this game and is not happy with it, either has played way too many games and is too critical or they do not like the game of baseball.
World Series Baseball 2K2 for the Sega Dreamcast is a very fun and exciting game despite having many flaws. After having a terrible game World Series Baseball 2K1 game I knew this one just had to better, but I was reluctant to get it because of the way 2K1 made me want to get rid of it (Which I did afte rplaying it 3 times). This game is probably one of the deepest baseball games out there now. It has a very, very deep franchise mode where you can manage your team through several seasons by signing free agents, making trades, drafting players and re-building your team if you are struggling or your star gets signed by a new team. Another great mode is the Home Run Derby which is the best Home Run Derby in a video game for a very long time. This game has many flaws that make this game frustrating at some points though:1) There is a bug that allows pitchers to get the save and win if the come in in the top of the 9th after you scored the go ahead run in the bottom of the eighth2) If your player hits a walk-off homerun, he will not be credited with the homerun in his stats3) In this game it seems like arule for there to e an error made in the game while trying to ctach a fly ball4) All homerun celebrations are the same, no Sammy Sosa leap, no Barry Bonds flinging the bat and walking, just pumping of their fists in the air.5) Your catcher always throws out the computer if they attempt to steal.6) In franchise mode you can’t do blockbuster trades with multiple players, you can only.
All i have to say is that im very happy at what Sega did to such a dissapointment with Wsb2k1 but that is over Sega has approved yet again with Wsb2k2 with solid gameplay, new stadiums, new modes and online play this is trully better than any of the PS2 baseball games! This game is well worth your 40$ it is a must buy for all those diehard dreamcast fans and the dreamcast graphics will always be better than PS2!
That title would sum up this game… I own and Ps2 and Dreamcast and what really looking forward to this game. I currently own high heat baseball for Ps2 and All-star baseball for Ps2, I wanted a game that would blend those two games together hoping that the dreamcast title would be the ultimate game. Well they came pretty close, however with all the delays of when this game was going to be released and then to released this it’s a little disappointing.Pros: options ( alot of them) flexiblity of customizing your rosters, making trades to mirror the big league clubs of today can be done by making trades in season mode and then saving them to your memory card and you can load them in exhibition mode, I thought that was a nice feature, that is were All-star baseball dropped the ball, the lack of customizing your teams. you can even play a entire season using all the teams something only high heat and the newest from dreamcast will allow you to do, All-star baseball only allows you one team to venture into a season, You can even choose how many innings you’d like to play rather than going the customary 9.Defense and pitching are great, you can actually strike computer guys out on called third strike, never happens in ABS hitting is alittle challenging but once your eye gets used to the speed of the ball you will be hitting them all over the yard. The runners speed are very realistic in terms of stretching bases, easy to control as well, meaning you hit a ball to the gap, you ca.
I am very excited for wsb 2k2 to come out. I hated wsb2k1 because sega pushing the release date back and no hr derby or fielder control or no creating teams. The fans were horrible the graphics were good but gameplay was bad and so were the anouncers. I like that 2k2 is going to have a franchise mode. So you can play many years. on 2k1 there was no recorded errors so everyone in the league could get a gold glove if the awareded them. almost impossible to get a triple and bunt for a hit. and they you could nt play two players on a team or 2 players in a season mode. I think is would be fun to play a world series against my friend. 2k2 is going to be the best. i hope that pitching is more realistic and easier. I hate that it get released so late in the season but i like it because it is after the trading deadline. i hope sega steps it up this year.
I didn’t pick up last year’s game because of all the negative reviews, no fielding, etc. So I waited…and waited. I picked up a new VMU for the 180 blocks required for WSB2K2 and loaded it up. This game is quality…the motion capture is superb, there’s obviously a great deal of thought that went into it from a baseball standpoint. The scores of the games I’ve been playing, 9-6, 1-0 (A great pitching matchup with Shawn Estes versus Kevin Brown, sole run was a Rich Aurilia home run), 6-4…and the flow of the game is quite close to a real baseball game. You’ll hit streaks where you can hit nothing but fly balls and ground outs, then you’ll feel sorry for the CPU when you score 6 runs in one inning. I’m playing on Pro mode, which I switched to quickly from Rookie. Rookie is absurd; you can see the location of the ball the CPU is pitching to before they pitch and you can position your cursor right on the ball. The 180 blocks is justified by the expansive franchise feature. It’s fun trading for players to update the league, but…one major oversight was that you cannot trade more than one player for a single player. This means you can’t trade three average players for one good player. So you could probably never acquire Curt Schilling unless you gave up Barry Bonds. One thing I don’t like about the commentary is that after a big moment, a grand slam or something, he moves right onto the next batter like nothing happened. The animations after a player hits a home run are s.
I stayed away from WSB2k1 because of the universally poor reviews it received – no fielding, stupid batting interface, and basically no fun. I’ve been wanting a good baseball game for the DC ever since, and the last 3 weeks were torturous, what with all the delays. To my great astonishment and delight, I was able to snag a copy of WSB2K2 last night, and now I’m a much happier person. It’s not a perfect game, but it’s good enough…Before I delve full-bore into this review, let me stress that I have not gone online with it, and I probably won’t go online with it; I’m just not really interested in online gaming. So I don’t know how well the online game works.First, the bad news:1. This is going to sound wierd, but the manual is horrendously incomplete. If you want to know how to pick off a guy at 1st, you’d better have some good eyesight, because it’s barely mentioned. Franchise mode is totally unexplained, other than it exists – same with explanations of all the other modes, difficulty settings, etc.2. The interface is clunky and non-intuitive. Last night my roommate and I played a quick exhibition game, and the score was something like 21-3. I wanted to see the box score when the game was over; it took me about 5 minutes to figure out how to get it.3. The home-run derby is weak. Regardless of difficulty settings, you will always get an 85mph fastball right down the pipe. Also, the camera does a poor job of tracking your home runs – if I hit a 520-foot job, I wanna see it fly.
You know, when i purchased world series 2k1 last summer, i thought i was in for a real treat. Then i played it and, to tell you the truth, it really stunk.I couldnt believe it, fifty dollars sown the freakin drain! The thing wasnt the grapics, it was beautiful, but the gamplay stunk. Now they came out with this years installment, i expect it to be much better, especially since u can go online and challege people, and download the latest rosters. I expect it to blow all the other baseball titles out of the water! This time, i know it will it will be worth my 50 smackers!
Rarely have I heard so much bellyaching and crybaby whining as I have over this game. Coming after what was possibly THE MOST BOTCHED Sega Sports game in history, we should be happy the thing was even released, let alone being remotely playable. It is not perfect, but if you know anything about console baseball games, there has never been a perfect baseball game. World Series 2K2 comes glancingly close though. First off, to answer some questions and comments posed by others: 1) The red/blue/clear boxes are areas of the strike zone that the hitter hits well/poorly in. 2) The defense is NOT difficult, and most often the computer will start your player in the correct direction. If you screw up from there, blame youself. 3) Yes, the outfielders sometimes don’t turn around to make the catch, big freakin deal! They still make the catch! 4) The fielders are slow? Then why can I usually beat the runner to first base with any one of my infielders? I personally like a ball to fall in the gap in the outfield once in a while, it’s called realism. 5) The faces of the players are far from perfect (Derek Bell’s moustache being a particularly gruesome offender), but the players are otherwise animated and rendered exceedingly well. 6) The stadiums look amazing, the crowds are 2D but they always have been so deal with it. 7) I don’t believe people complain about their trades getting vetoed. How many times did gamers kvetch about "I shouldn’t be able to assemble an all-star roster by swind.
