Amazing. Just like the first one
Im a big fan of valkyria chronicles the original. I bought the second excpecting the same. The second has many more class 5 main but each of those have 2 sub catagories and those 2 each have 2 more subcatagores for a totle of 35 i think class. The class system is way better though you dont start out with snipers but scouts that train into snipers. There are many diffrint missions and missions types. The missions mix the gameplay up enought to make the mpas not get repititive. The maps are the only thing I dont like about this game. The game may have over 200 misions but it also only has 10 maps. The fact that they game has so many missions and only 10 maps is a bit dissipointing. Overall I love this game and it is highly recomnded. The only thing I dont like is the repetivness of the maps. If there were more maps it would have been a 5 star review.
Pros+Tons of missions, 500 or so.+More classes+Characters each have their own sub-story and mission+Changed many of the annoying design decisions from VC1+Most classes have better movement nowCons-Recycled maps-Plenty of useless classes-Insanely dumb enemy AI-Some huge difficulty spikes-Credit system is very randomClassesScouts: Fairly useful class branch. Sniper Elites are extremely powerful and rarely ever miss, which was a huge annoyance in VC1. Scout Veterans are useful.Engineers: This whole branch is nigh useless and will only come in handy very few times.Lancers: They can actually hit tanks now!Shock Troopers: Probably the class you will be using the most, strong all around and no longer have bad movement like in VC1. Commando class really outshines the rest of the tree though.Armor Tech: The new class and can be incredibly powerful, usually taking out multiple enemies in 1 swing. Great addition in my opinion, as they can draw a away enemy fire since the are pretty much invulnerable to it.
My daughter was introduced to the PSP in college, likes her new system & the games that she bought this summer.
Amazing game so addictive.
Great sequel, and lots of fun!For those who never played the original game for the Ps3, no fear! while this game is set after the events of the original and does include a few character cameos from the first game, it is a fresh experience with its own story.Basically, in a small kingdom of Gallia, there is a civil revolt whereby some citizens wish to ‘purge’Gallia of a race of dark haired people called Darcsens. The story follows a class of military cadets as they attempt to serve their country by opposing the rebels – and pass their exams too :)All in all, this is a great game. There is a bit of classroom antics and getting to know your classmates – the more you deploy them in battle, the more sidestories you will uncover, as well as classmate specific missions. This definitely improves affinity towards certain characters, some side stories can be really interesting :)Gameplay wise… hmm. I know this has been compared to games like FF tactics and other SRPGs. But i have played games like FF Tactics and Disgaea, and while there is defintely a strategy element, there is also a free roam element on the battlefield.Let me explain. At the start of the battle, your units are deployed in a map view. You have a certain amount of “command Points” to enable you to move your units per turn, for example a tank costs two CPs while a unit only 1.Once you select the unit, you are transported to the battlefield, where you can move your unit to any point, fire on an enemy or take cover for.
great game to play
The Good+Much of the gameplay in the first game has been expanded upon+There are a ton of missions for you to tackle and enjoy+A large cast of characters the game really tries to develop+A very good soundtrack+Despite being watered down for the PSP, the visuals are still pretty goodThe Bad-The difficulty is, at times, unbalanced-The Voice Acting can be annoying-There isn’t much attention put into the story, and it’s probably because so much of the focus was put into the gameplay. It’s very easy to be distracted from the story.—When the first Valkyria Chronicles came out in 2008 it crept into the gaming market quietly while other games were breaking down the door. As a result, Valkyria Chronicles didn’t make a big splash at first. In spite of this, however, good critical reception and word of mouth helped Valkyria Chronicles gain a small cult following and become a successful game. Enough to allow for a sequel on the PSP. Valkyria Chronicles 2 is finally here. And while it isn’t quite as good as the first in some respects, it’s better in others. The second game focuses on Avan, a young man who has just discovered that his brother Leon, who was attending a military academy, has been killed. But the messenger doesn’t want to tell him why. So he decides to enroll in the academy himself to find out. As Avan is discovering what has happened to his brother there is a rebel faction rising in Gallia because the Archduchess has just revealed she’s a Darcsen. And Darcsen’s aren’t loo.
This is an absolutely fantastic strategy game. I play it on my 20 minute commute every morning and evening and it has captivated me for months now. The story is not great–it’s a pretty purile school-sim with an annoying main character. But the story vastly improves over the course of the game. But it’s the game that shines. Relatively bite-sized battles that perfectly combine the thrill and fun of a third person shooter with the more deliberate pace and thoughtful planning of a strategy game. On top of that, there’s a leveling system for characters and weapons that adds a bit of RPG to the mix. There’s really no other game like this, and it provides hours and hours of enjoyment. This is the overall best game I’ve played on the PSP. Be patient with the story (it does get better) and you’ll be richly rewarded.
Great game!! Anyway thats what my son said to say. He’s tearing it up and enjoying the heck out of it. I haven’t got a chance to play it yet but he’s 17 so I figure he knows a good game when he play’s it!!
