First let me tell you… I don’t play video games. Unless its Tetris. I can kick your butt on Tetris… probably why the boys won’t play that game with me any more. Anyways back to the Lego game. Guess what… you can’t lose the pieces or directions! No stepping on pieces in the middle of the night, and no brothers destroying your creations. The little two boys love it… they have loved all of the lego games from ages 5-11 so far. They can even get the teenager to play it with them. Said teenager says its an "alright game" but its not "epic". I do know that they boys love to play it but after about 1 1/2 – 2 hours of playing fights break out, tears begin, and then this Mama has had enough and turns off the game. Poor kids are tortured with limited game time and claim it takes them forever to beat it cuz I won’t let them play long enough. Oldest one says he can beat it in about 6 hours.
So far, so good. Have only played for a few hours, but all the Lego games are so well crafted. We have basically all of them and one of the best features is the ability for two players to play simultaneously in a cooperative mode. This make it possible for a friend to come over and play on the same console (and either player can drop out whenever they need to or pop back in again without really messing up game-play), which most video games won’t allow. What surprised me about this title is that the characters actually talk – not just mumbles that are supposed to be a multi-language substitute for talking like in most of the previous Lego games. My hat goes off to yet another success in a long line of great video games in the Lego brand.
I’ve played most of the LEGO games, starting with The Complete Star Wars. Personally I think LOTR is their best yet. The entire world of the LOTR movies is playable in the "overworld", the base from which you go into the individual levels or stories. They put a lot of work into the graphics. It makes you feel as if you could really walk from Saruman’s tower, to Rohan, Gondor, or even Mordor. You are able to jump, use each characters weapons, and a whole slew of other tools and even wear funny hats and masks. There are lots of simple puzzles. And of course a lot of the trademark TT LEGO humor sprinkled in. For instance, they make the horse riders of Rohan dance when they meet Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli. But in order to take full advantage of it, and get all the goodies along the way, you have to finish all the levels in story mode. That opens up the option of using ALL the characters you have in the overworld.
I’ll admit that I seriously love both Lego games and Lord of the Rings, so maybe I was predisposed to love this one.I really enjoyed playing this game, and it is definitely one of my favorite Lego games. Much like Lego Batman 2, the game has a more open-world setup that allows you to explore Middle Earth between levels. There are many Lego bricks to find around Middle Earth as well as in the levels, so getting to 100% completion doesn’t feel like a chore. Being able to make items using Mithril bricks is awesome because they bestow abilities on characters that normally don’t have those attributes, which opens up opportunities in levels and while exploring.Pick this one up — you won’t regret it!!
If you’re already a fan of lego games then this game will meet all of your expectations. It has all the charm that a lego game should have. You can tell that they have improved on some of the bugs of past lego games. They are beginning to expand the capabilities of lego games. You can do things like rotate your view and hold an inventory of items. The game is also very true to the heart of the Lord of the Rings series. It’s a very fun adventure.
I’m a big fan of the LEGO games. To be fair, I prefer action/adventure games, puzzle, games and RPGs as opposed to first person games. So if you’re getting this game as a gift, consider what type of gamer you’re buying for. I think it’s perfect for young gamers. Any violence is LEGO violence with LEGO pieces flying as opposed to blood and gore; kids pull their LEGOs apart all the time when they’re playing. I always like the Easter eggs and fun stuff that the game makers throw in as well. The game is not high on the challenge meter but allows for a solid amount of gaming fun. Highly recommend!
I personally love and own all of the LEGO video games, and it has been pleasing to see how these games have evolved. LEGO Lord of the Rings continues with elements from LEGO Batman 2 with the open world concept, however the glitches seem to be more present in this game.Pros-Open-world concept-All three movies/books covered-Side quests add many hours of gameplay-Beautiful graphics and detailed landscapesCons-Even after installing the game onto the harddrive (in my opinion it is the only way to overcome the game freezing for every game in the series) there are many glitches/freezes that are frustrating. The most occuring one is the metal objects that need to be blown up to 100% a level will simply not break; the only fix is to play the level over again.-Discovering the pattern needed to blow up metal objects is not easy (unless you lookup a guide), and with a vast world it can be cumbersome to try to find.-Not as much LEGO humor in this game. It’s not a big con, but I always look forward to the charm of it.Overall, if you like LEGO & Lord of the Rings, you will enjoy this game. Just be prepared for glitches, and remember to install the game on the hard drive!
Great condition and actually came new, which is nice. Can’t wait to get to play it with my mom.
The Lego games are the only games I can get my wife to play. I think they are a little repetitive (as far as the hard core gamers are concerned they are really repetitive) but I like that the developers are aware of that. The repetitive game play makes it easier to incorporate the puns and silliness that the game has when comparing it to the movie.I have got a few chuckles out of the game (as most of the other lego games have done).Bottom line, it is a fun game to play with the family to kill some time.
It is an amazing rendition of the movies with a lot of little humor thrown in. Having never played any of the lego series before I was looking for something my wife and I could play on the xbox that basically was just collecting dust. Both of us love the game and have a lot of fun with it. I started playing by myself as I’m OCD enough that I need to find the secrets and as much of the stash as possible. So if you’re looking for a great multiplayer game that can appeal to both casual and hardcore collective playstyles then this is a great game for both types of players and is also great fun.
