The questions on the cards resemble some GRE logic questions. So, it is not just good mental practice; it is also test preparation disguised as a children’s game.
This game can be played by one or more kids and they will enjoy it a lot. My Granddaughter was 10 but I think almost any age would enjoy it.
This game is a lot of fun and can be played alone or with multiple players. While you have a lot of fun solving the cat crimes, it is a great STEM game as well. Really helps deductive reasoning skills so its educational and your child doesn’t even realize it, that part is an added bonus!
This was a gift for my 7 year old. It comes with beginner, intermediate and advanced cards. It is a cute game that is compact. it is challenging for all players. And is fun for adults to solve the crimes too.
I bought this for my 8 year old, and we both love it. It’s really nice to have a game to play with her that isn’t super easy for older family members. The more advanced cards can be rather challenging.
Played with ages 5-30 and all enjoyed. Also able to play alone which is nice.
I am a huge fan of ThinkFun. I homeschool and like to use these games for critical thinking, logic solving, for my kids. I enjoy them for myself for fun as well.We had Cat Crimes and were worried it would be the same challenges/clues but just with dogs. It wasn’t. Such a great idea of a puzzle. I love that they get very difficult. And it can be replayed because I know I don’t remember the answers after awhile so I can redo the challenges without just remembering the answer from before.Great game as usual by ThinkFun. Looking forward to seeing what they put out next.
This is nominally a one player game, but my nine-year-old son and I play it together, talking through the clues and solving the “cat crimes.†This is a pure logic game (Tom is sitting to the left of Duchess; Duchess is in front of a ball of yarn… who broke the flowerpot?). The deck of cards, each representing a cat crime, is divided into four difficulty levels. Once my son can easily solve all the crimes by himself, we will probably pass the game on to a younger friend, But this is a great learning tool, delightfully fun, well worth the cost.
This is a great little game of logic “who dun it” to help kids build deduction skills. I am also not going to lie, us parents enjoyed playing it and may have been stumped by a cat case or two.Cute board and characters, sturdy and easy to set up. We highly recommend.
I have played this game with my 8-year old child and I am still debating the positives and negatives associated with the game, but I believe it is a very clever and interesting game. My biggest complaint with the game is that there are not more “Beginner” scenarios for the younger kids; with ten cards tagged as easy it is not enough for a game targeting the younger end of the spectrum, which was the reason I bought this game in the first place. With what cards are in the package for the easier scenarios, it is fun to keep the younger folks engaged in the game. My wife and noticed that we get to the “Intermediate” level is where the 8-year old child has little to add, an at the “Advanced” level is where the 8-year old child is not able to contribute than moving pieces around. I will wish that the game maker has plans to offer extra cards to be bought to enable more play time. Very cool game concept but wish there were more cards available to have more playing time. This game can be played by older kids and adults as the “Intermediate”, “Advanced”, and “Expert” levels are geared towards those age groups.
