As recommended(by some-one else) I played Shadow Hearts 2 first. Shadow hearts would have been a lot tougher without knowledge obtained from the second game. Using the rings for battle was a little tough at first, but i caught on and had a lot of fun with the game. I liked the story line and the characters are bekievanle. Some of the puzzels are tough. Over-all, idin’t want to put the game down. Its like a good book, that you just couldn’t put down.( at the young age of 69, I find most good RPG’S are like that). I would reccomend The Shadow Hearts series to anyone who plays RPG’s. RPG GRAMPS. I’m just starting Shadow Hearts 3.
I bought this game without knowing anything about it, it just looked cool. As I started playing it, I found out that it wasn’t just cool, it was amazing. The scenes and music just gave me chills and the judgement ring (which takes some pratice) gave the game a whole new challenge (making it diffrent from FF which I also love).
*Grins* This game is incredibly awesome. I would place this game up there along with FF games. The graphics are as good andthe storyline are just as great. The only different about this game is the fact that the main character is a horny fella, named Yuri. Yes, you heard me. Horny! LOL! There are ocassional testerone drive dialogues in this game so I don’t really recommend kids to play this game. Girls are the weaker characters in the games, and yes in some levels you have to play her.The story goes mostly like, girl in trouble, guy save girl, guy turn demony evil, guy turn back good, and so on. Yuri, the main character has these weird flashbacks that gives him bad migraines. The only problem I have with this game is the bad, is the clock dial thing. You have to click in the right moment with your controller to get a good power attack. It’s tough at first but it gets easier each time.
Very good. Simply stated, to me at least, this game was mindblowing. The Judgement Ring (though sometimes evil) is the best thing to ever happen to an RPG. Finally, I actually *had* to stay awake. With other RPG’s one can just click ‘x’ continually to level up, but not in Shadow Hearts. Battles were lots of fun and not nearly as monotonous as most RPG battles are. Constantly returning to the Graveyard to get rid of your ‘malice’ (another interesting touch) can get annoying, but it’s not really so bad. There is one warning though: DON’T BUY THIS GAME IF YOUR REFLEXES REALLY ….! But hey, I am the most uncoordinated person I know, but I did alot better than most of my other friends who tried to hit the button as the twirly thing passed over the ‘hit area’ of the Judgement Ring. Very fun! Some say the graphics weren’t good. That is a lie!!! They aren’t breathtaking, but the action in the scenes make up for that. You’ll see what I mean. Wow, I just realized how bad this review is. If you haven’t played it, do so soon. Shadow Hearts is already more difficult to find in stores.
This game was nothing but fun. I have played a few Final Fantasy games, and although similar, Shadow Hearts holds it’s own. I had never heard about the game when I first played it, I was looking at games at a Used-Game store and picked it up, not expecting a whole lot, but it blew my mind. The judgement ring can be annoying at times, but after playing for a while, you get used to it. So pick it up, and get ready for one hell of a ride!
Fun game. With an amazing story. My only complaint with it. Is that the combat system, uses a mechanic of a spinning ring to determine if you hit or not, which puts the fighting on more of a skill base. But even with good video quality, the ring is just too blurry in this game to be reliable. In the future games of this series the ring gets much clearer. So, if you are a fan of the series, this game is a great story. But if you played one of the later 2 games, and are looking to see the origin. Be prepared for a frustrating time with the ring combat system.
Loved this game when I played it many years ago and was so happy to finally be able to play it again. It is one of my all time favourite RPGs.
This game was suggested to me buy the guy in the video store so I got it along with FFX and I must say I cant stop playing this one I’m enjoying it more then FFX (surprised me)It has a very gothic story and non annoying charaters. Yuri is one of my favorite charaters in a video game along with Squall(FFVIII) and Dante from Devil may cry.The voice overs on some of the cutscenes are rather dumb but this is proably my new favorite role-player game I cant wait to reply for the other ending. There are lots of side quests and hidden weapons to find along with secret fusion monters to gain. The judgement ring doesnt take that long to get use to it only took me a few tries. Anyway this game rocks . Check it out.
Good Game
The Shadow Hearts series, unlike the Final Fantasy series, doesn’t get very much recognition. There have been 3 SHs and they have only grown better with each one. SH 1 is the worst one out of trilogy, but it’s not saying it’s bad in any way. I figure the more games they release, the better they get (a special exemption to DMC, DMC 2 was horrific). This one follows out main protaginist Yuri on an adventure, he didnt even know he was going to embark on. Albert Smith is the main antagonist in the game, both being a “Demon Shifter”, and after they meet…the fun begins! This is a definite buy, although, it can get pricy somtimes. Also try: Shadow Hearts 2 (If you’ve beat this one) or Shadow Hearts 3 (It’s totally different)
