I wouldn’t recommend paying over MSRP on this thing. It seems like people are marking it up to somehow take advantage of NES classic scarcity, which is nonsense. That said, it is an ok little unit. The build quality is pretty good and it looks slick. The controller is solid, though I’m using a wireless 8bitdo adapter and controller with it (which works great).However, it is absolutely not a substitute for a more expensive AnalogueNT Mini or RetroUSB console, which are FPGA-based HD reproductions of the original hardware. You’ll be disappointed if that’s what you’re expecting. What you get here is a decent way to play *some* of your old NES cartridge collection on a modern TV. Things probably won’t quite look or sound like you remember, but it’ll be better than hooking up your old NES to an HDTV.My big issue with the system is questionable compatibility. I was initially impressed with how it handled Castlevania III. It was way better than playing on my original NES on an HDTV. I tried a few more games from my collection (Mega Man 2, SMB 3, Jackal, Gradius, Double Dragon 2, Metroid) and they seemed similaly decent. I was all set to give it a 4-star review, but then I tried my Ninja Gaiden cart. All I got was a black screen. I immediately confirmed the cart works fine in my NES. I have yet to try out the rest of my collection. This one may be an anomaly, but it was disappointing that such a popular game didn’t work at all.I’ll update this review if I run into any other incompatible carts.

works well great aesthetics, has some oddball audio issues on some games but other than that this is a win!
Picture looked great! Controller felt great! The sound however… MY GOD! Sound quality was so awful I returned it. Sounded like you were listening to a speaker with someones hand covering it…

This system is all you’ve been waiting for! Playing all your old NES cartridges or get the one I did! It has 329 classic titles! Super Mario 1 thru 3, Excitebike, Mike Tyson’s Punch Out, Legend of Zelda, etc.! AMAZING quality system! Came with everything I needed in the box, easy to set up and even easier to use!! Buy it already!!
The quality is terrible. Pieces broke off immediately. Customer services expressed their condolences but that’s it.Buy something else.
My son is a retro gamer but some of his consoles have worn out. He is delighted that the Hyperkin gaming console plays his old catridges.
Love playing my NES games but the old toasters are not reliable. Watch a lot of YouTube videos. The color is a little off and sound is not as good as a Nintendo NES is. The pins are tight but for the price it works great. If you like different games I would tell you to try the retron 5.
Great console to get if you like to play nes games the little problem you might have is trying to get the game out of the slot due to it being a little tight. You may have that little problem if you get it or you may not
I like it… I like it a lot…. it looks great. It’s played everything I’ve put in it so far except for ninja Gaiden . I don’t know why but it won’t recognize it. everything else it has played flawlessly and for long periods of time I personally have had no problems with sound . I even like the look of it . Not bad for a $40 end it comes with a very awesome controller
