EA does it again with another incredible football sim that totally gets the game player involved this year. First, you’re going to have to play smarter football if you want to win (I have yet to find any money plays!). The “Stadium Pulse” really gets you rattled and can throw your game off. However, you can have a leg up if you play as one of the top teams who have one of the toughest 25 places to play when at home. For example, Tennessee, Miami or Florida. I think it’s more fun to play with a smaller school in Dynasty mode and try to build a mediocre program into a powerhouse. You may not win the National Championship, but at least you’ve rebuilt a program and increased its star ratings. Graphically, there’s not much difference than last year’s version. This year’s version has a better interface and title screens (you can actually read them). My only complaint was that the commentary could have been better. I could not tell a difference than last year’s, but then again it’s not that big of a deal. Everything else about the game is “a few yards” ahead of NCAA 2004.
NCAA Football 2005 does NOT have any downsides. I hate when these people cry about the passing. If you hold down pass too hard, they won’t catch it, especially if you have a good quarterback. If you just press the pass button, more likely the reciever will catch it because it isn’t thrown as hard.Besides passing, NCAA 2005 is a huge improvement from the 2004 game. Not only does the running game get more challenging and passing is REALISTIC, but players aren’t putting up enourmous stats anymore like in 2004. In 2004 I had 42 sacks in one season with a player, now I only get like 10 or 11 sacks a year because EA has noticed its tweaks and has fixed them. The gameplay is great and so is the Dynasty Mode. Not only that, but you can also play college classics and get a bunch of cool unlockables. Not that, but you can play rivalry games to get trophies to keep with the rest of the hardware. Not just that, you could even play those old mascot games. WIth the create a school feature and a complete Dynasty Mode, don’t even think of giving NCAA 2005 less then 5 stars.
Great game. Realistic stadiums, even the background buildings were right. The only thing it was missing was our scoreboard. I guess they use a generic one. Also the animation has really bad clipping. After you kick an extra point, the male cheerleaders run through the end zone with your school flags. If the return team has two people back deep the cheerleader runs right through the return man. People running through other is a common thing in this game though. It DOES NOT affect game play though. Very realistic game in coaching, players, discipline (had to bench my Heisman canidate for violating team rules). The only other drawback I’ve seen is that the xbox online has never, while I’ve been in, had more than 15 people online. But if you are a fan of the college game, you’ll love this.
Classic
The game works great, no problems whatsoever. It also came with a two month subsrciption to xbox live. Fantastic Job
First off, I find this game to be a blast. I like it much better than the 2k4 version, mainly due to two things: 1) Homefield advantage – this just makes the game seem SO much more real, getting the home crowd pumped up (or playing against them when you’re the enemy on their home turf). Playing in some of the biggest stadiums just gets the juices flowing! 2) XBox live – IT’S ABOUT TIME, EA! What took you so long? The matchup stick is pretty neat as well. With it, you can check to see which of your players are playing with confidence and which are rattled or just plain bad. It also allows you to judge how the other team is doing as well. Find that the guy covering your slot receiver is rattled and bad? Switch out your best receiver into that position or manuever him close by and hike the ball and see if you can burn him for some long yardage to demoralize him even more! Hey, is that MLB on the weak side not doing so well? Then hot route your HB to run to that side and see if you can burn him for some yardage. The running game seems slow, but in retrospect, it makes it easier to juke, find the holes in the line and make your moves to blast off a great run. Now, running is NOT easy in this game, but in past versions, the D swarms so fast, it’s hard to find the holes to run through unless they are already huge enough to see on a TV screen. With the slow down, it makes it more manageable to run and see the holes open up. At first, I didn’t like it, but now, I’m used to it and it h.
This game is by far the best title out for Xbox live. Unfortunetly it is the worst title when it comes to disconnects and lag. The improvements are OK over last years version, but if it weren’t for the online play, it wouldn’t be worth the upgrade. If you loved playing against your friends on 2004, you will love the game online.
Why is everybody crying, the is a whole lot better than last year. The tackling is much better and more realistic. Runnning the ball is a whole lot better. As far as passing goes, just like in college they drop the ball some times when it is a and wide open play, but in the clutch they catch it. My whole point is this, stop f@#king crying play the game or convert to that espn bullsh*t.
WOW! I rented this puppy, played a couple games in front of a raucous crowd at Mountaineer Field, and rushed back into town, returning this title 36 hours prior to it’s due date. The reason? I had to own this one! First off, the "pick-a-play" interface shows the home stadium behind the various formations. Not a big deal you say? Just pop in your copy of the ’04 version and compare. This is not the only graphical improvement, either. The premier stadiums have also received an upgrade. For example, WVU’s home field now has realistic-looking glass which fronts the weight room in the south endzone. Fans hold up signs that YOU create! That’s right, you can develop vulgar, sexist, racially-insensitive…ugh…I mean you can design signs to support your favorite teams and players! In addition, the "Home Field Advantage" touch makes for a much more realistic gaming experience. The controller vibrates and the camera shakes as a result of the frenzied crowd! (You can turn off the shaking-camera feature if you like.) Furthermore, players are no longer limited to post-touchdown celebrations. Just sacked the quarterback? Celebrate! Dislodged the pigskin with the new "Big Hit" button? Celebrate! Just activated a sign which tells everybody how big of a slut your ex-girlfriend is? Cele…Well, you get the picture. In short, NCAA Football 2005 belongs in any football fan’s collection. Pay no attention to the reviewers who say, "My receivers can’t catch.".
This preview will “blow” away Mr. Ebert’s review. As such, you should read this review and the excellent Mr. Bryant. Then, just skip over Mr. Ebert’s.GENERAL GAMEPLAY IMPROVEMENTS:- Big hits: The option to take a chance on really plastering another player. Increases the chance of a fumble or dropped pass, but also the chance of you whiffing on the tackle.- Improved run blocking and new run animations: No more getting stuck against or behind your own linemen. Good offensive lines now open better holes and routes.- Home Field Advantage: The bigger the stadium, the louder the crowd, the greater the impact. Pumping up the crowd carries more meaning and response. Visiting teams have to fight an uphill battle against the environment, based upon the strength of the home team’s stadium and crowd.- Interactive Timeouts: You’re now given a choice on which group to coach, it can directly address ratings and composure levels depending on those of your team captains. You can now “ice the kicker” with timeouts, as composure is an issue for all players.- Match-Up Stick: Player ratings (in game) can now change based upon the individual’s ability to handle pressure. You can now check composure and mismatches pre-snap.- Custom fans: Set up your own ‘crazed’ fans with a variety of options, accessories, appearances, etc. To add to the college gameday atmosphere, and…- Custom celebrations: Choose to play a mascot, fan or player animation, decide between mild and extreme.- More “user” stats: U.
