This game is plain great. I love sports games and especially baseball games. This is definently the best baseball game ive ever played. I recomend it to anyone who asks for a great game. Definently worth the 50 bucks.
Baseball fans, you no longer need to cringe everytime you hear EA Sports and our favorite pasttime in the same sentence. Gone are the days of the lowly (once decent) Triple Play series. Last years offering, MVP 2003, ushered in a new era in baseball games; this game takes it to another, never before seen, level. Simply put, this game is amazing.First off hitting is easy. Not necessarily easy in the sense of being able to launch a small, white ball over the wall everytime, but easy to understand. The strike zone is divided into nine sections and you simply need to swing towards the section that the ball is pitched in. Of course that’s not so easy as the ball comes whizzing in at 95 mph with some nasty spin on it. The hitting system makes perfect sense and really puts you in the eyes of a Major League batter!Pitching is also intuitive, yet challenging. You choose your pitch, hold down the appropriate button until the meter fills, and tap the button again as it goes through the green accuracy zone. It feels very natural and is fairly easy to execute, but like real life, if you choose the wrong pitch or location…Fielding in this game is the best of any game I’ve ever played. Hold the button to throw to the appropriate base. Hold it longer for more power, hold it too long and the throw could go sailing into the stands. It’s a perfect risk/reward system. Of course better fielders are less likely to miscue than some 2nd year outfielder turned shortstop.Among the other details incl.
Arrived quickly and in stated condition. Game has been working fine thus far. Enjoying a blast from the past on the old PS2.
If you are looking for a baseball game you can pick up and start hitting 500 foot HRs right away, go find an old Nintendo system because this is not the game for you.BUT, if you are looking for a game that rewards skill and patience….that takes time to master…where a HR actually means something, then this is the game for you.I have not come close to doing extremely well and this game, and hope I won;t either. That is the fun of baseball after all.The options that are available will keep you engrossed for a long time – as someone else said, this game is like crack it’s so addictive
I have played this game for about a week. Here are some of my thoughts for it:The gameplay of MVP 2004 is based on the previous title MVP 2003 with some obvious improvements like big play control, and different types of slides you can choose for your runners. The graphic is a little bit better than last year. The commentary in the game is the same old stuff. I have always loved the music in this series. And of course, the new improved dynasty mode and complete AA and AAA seasons are just make this game more fun to play. There are still many little things may bother you here and there in this game. First, you will find it is extremely difficult to get a walk (In rookie and pro level, the computer controled pitchers will just throw strike 85% of the time, and in All-Star and MVP level, they will fool you easily with the fast movement of the balls.) The player creating system is still weak. You only have few options to edit your new player’s appearance. I hope they can learn it from Tiger Wood’s PGA tour series. The hitting is now very difficult to master in All-Star and MVP level. The right analog stick is playing a much more important role in the hitting. On the other hand, the pitching is still a little bit boring.Overall, this game presents much more challenges than last year, and you will easily find yourself spend some quality time on it during your leisure time. I don’t know if this is the best baseball game for this year. But one sure thing is this is not a bad game!
First off, this game is amazing! The dynasty mode is one of the best i’ve ever seen. Now, would anyone happen to know how you can transfer an unlocked player? I’ve unlocked Phil Niekro, but i am unable to figure out how to get him to be able to play in a game? with any suggestions, or answers, please contact me.
I have had this game since the first week it came out and have played exactly 30 games in MLB plus all the AA and AAA games. Let’s say I have about 90 games of experience so I know what I’m talking about in this review. I also played about 250 games of MVP 2003 so I know the differences between these two games. First of all, let me tell you that some of the reviews can be missleading. I mean no disrespect but some people are looking for an arcade game and that’s not what this game is about. Don’t write a review saying it sucks because you can’t strike out 20 batters or bacause you only have hit 3 homers in your first 5 games. I have played this game for 23 years so I know about baseball. This game IS HARD and that’s the beauty of it. This is A BASEBALL SIMULATOR, not just a simple arcade game. This is not a slugfest. The most I have scored is 14 runs in all the 30 games. Some people say the computer will have 4 or 5 triples a game… NO WAY. Not if you play the game the way it’s supposed to be palyed. YOU HAVE TO THROW the ball to the CUTT OF MAN or YOU WILL have that many triples. Some say you have too few home runs… well, THAT’S REALISTIC… THAT’S MLB. It is NOT EASY to hit a baseball at 95MPH, believe me. I have 10 home runs with Alex Rodriguez. That means I should have about 55-60 by the end of the season and that’s if he doesn’t get hurt.Guys… you have to realize that there are different game levels. I do agree with you that MVP is too hard but you ca.
I usually rents a baseball game before I buy it because usually the games are horrible and I have always wanted a good baseball game. When I rented MVP baseball 2004, it was definately the first baseball game I was going to buy. The graphics are very good and different game modes are unbeleiveable. I also like how you can play as a AAA Baseball team or a AA Baseball team. The play is very good. The only thing that is a little shaky is pitching. But I have only had the game for a couple of days. So maybe If I practice it will be better. All in all, in my opinion it is the best baseball game yet. I bet next years will be even better.
This game is super addictive.I am not a nerd.I have a wife and a kid.I have a well paying management job. This game is as addictive as any drug.It is super realistic.Game speed is excellent.Dynasty mode, minor leagues fantastic. The retro uniforms are cool and the 50 or so All-Time greats you can unlock are sick.Reggie Jackson, Tom Seaver, Joe Morgan, Nolan Ryan, Babe Ruth, etc.To anyone having problems with pitchers, hitters etc. use the gameplay options were you can tweek things like pitcher fatigue, hitters contact, running speed, etc.You can increase/decrease both your team and the computers.Also- pitchers do get tired in the 7th inning in REAL games that is why they have relief pitchers. You can edit any player. If you wanted Terry Mulholland to be great you can adjust him.If you want Pedro Martinez to get shelled you can edit him also.I love sports games but usually hate baseball games. They are usually slow and dull.I have played others (most recently the 989 title w/Shawn Green on the cover- total waste of money) and this is finally the one baseball game that isn’t as slow as Mo Vaughn.
I really enjoyed playing this game the first time I got it, but…there still are some annoying things in here. I own MVP Baseball 2003 which was a big improvement from the Triple Play Series, but that doesn’t really mean that the game was good itself. Now MVP 2004 has gotten rid of the majority of the glitches and whatnot, to make this a truly great game with almost flawless gameplay. The thing that really bothered this game from being perfect is that;(1). First whenever you take a swing at a high heater or a slow changeup or whatever it shows you a replay EVERY single time of you swinging and missing in a little box on the bottem right corner. And the thing is that you cannot turn that off so you just have to live with it. (2). Slow outfielders. They had this same problem on the ’03 game but they didn’t bother to fix it. The game has slow outfielders so if a hitter hits it into the gap, which in real life would only be a fair double but the majority of the times it will turn into a triple. Or if theres a ball hit into foul territory, and your in the outfield, chances are you probably won’t catch up to the ball. Which is very unrealistic because outfielders can usually catch up to a foul ball very quickly. (3). Easy Pitching. I believe in my own opinion that this game has too easy pitching. The strike zone is too large so that a pitch up and away or down and in would be easily called a strike. (4). Duane Kuiper and Mike Krukow (game annoucners) gets repettitive once you play.
