The Wheel of Fortune game here has some annoying issues, including straight-up bugs and some “coulda been designed better”s. Jeopardy seems to work pretty well, though.***Jeopardy*** become a multiple-choice game, ’cause there’s not an easy way for you to type things in. It works way better for me than a “real game” would because I can often pick one of three when I might not be able to come up with an answer fully on my own. So, for me, this became a fun trivia exercise, even when I totally didn’t know a category, it was still fun to get quizzed and learn the right answers. There is an online mode, but no one was online to play with… I’ll bet that’s a lot more fun. Five stars for Jeopardy.***Wheel of Fortune*** is riddled with problems, but after I played a bit, I got to the point where it was about as fun as watching the show in TV, and maybe a bit more. By nature, WoF is a bit tedious is real life, as you’re waiting for this and that before you can actually guess letters or phrases, and this is true in the Switch game as well. But you can skip through things like the player introductions and some of the blahblahblah and expedite the game a bit.Super annoying glitch: When I picked that I wanted to Solve The Puzzle in normal mode, it would skip ahead to the next player. This did not happen to me in Easy or Expert modes. I found I could play just fine in expert mode, so went on from there. This is something that they should be able to remedy with a patch, so it’s not a rea.
We enjoy playing as a family. We wish it had Pat and Vanna on Wheel though
This is a cartridge version of two downloadable games available on the Nintendo eshop, together in one package. Each will pop up as a separate icon on your home screen, and each functions as it’s own complete game, so I’ll review them as separate products.Wheel of Fortune is not my favorite TV game show, and this game really exacerbates it’s flaws. The game is slow, with many (fortunately skippable) scenes of spinning and pulling up letters. While the graphics and the flow of the game is very similar to what you’d find on the actual show, it makes the game feel plodding and slow. When you solve, you need to spell the words out, letter by letter. There are touchscreen options for handheld to allow you to almost type your answer, but letters are not arranged as a keyboard, which does make things a little harder. There are also a few odd pairings, like winning a trip to Italy in a prize puzzle about France, but that’s forgivable. Ironically, I did enjoy the montage of the different countries that pop up in the prize descriptions, but overall, this game felt like one long cutscene. I’d give it a 2/5.Jeopardy is much better. There are no cutscenes whatsoever, no spelling of answers, and not much to get in the way of the joy of simply answering trivia. The game is not perfect by any stretch. Trivia buffs will find most clues very easy, and even the hard ones are made simpler by virtue of all the clues being multiple choice. There are three separate answer choices, prese.
Very Fun Game to play with family members
The game is alright. It would’ve been nice to have Alex reading the questions out.
Great to play with the whole family.
Both the jeopardy and wheel of fortune parts of this game are quite fun most of the time, and I overall I am happy with my purchase. It does offer a fun game experience with family, and I especially appreciate the “quick†modes that are available for both game shows. However, the game is not perfect. One critique I have is that these games feel very low budget, bordering on lazy. For example, all the customization options for wheel of fortune are very superficial, like changing your character’s hair or the appearance of the set. From what I have seen you are not able to customize the frequency different categories show up, the difficultly level, or the makeup of the wheel itself (ie. more/less bankruptcy spaces). Just little gameplay customization things like that could help keep the game fresh and interesting.Another one of the issues I have with this game is that it feels extremely American. Yes I know the game is called “America’s Greatest Game Shows,†and of course I was expecting lots of red white and blue and all that, but the extent of the American focus in the GAMEPLAY still surprised me. I understand that the game shows this is based on are American, but for an internationally released video game, it feels a little excessive. For example in Jeopardy, there are way more categories than I expected that focus on American history and geography. While you can opt out of entire areas of questions (eg. academics, pop culture), it does not seem to be possible to opt out of/red.
Great games, perfect for family game night or to sharpen your puzzle/trivia skills!
This is such a blast! The way the simulate both of these games are a lot of fun!
It is so fun! I have been playing with my 9 and 8 year old as well as my parents. We have been playing at least 3 times a week. Very easy to just pick up and play. We would definitely buy again.
