A huge hit with our boys and we have gifted to several friends with rave reviews.
Rush Hour Jr. was one of the best Christmas gifts my kids received. We’ve owned our set since our son was 4 (he’s now 7) and the plastic set and accompanying cards have held up amazingly well. Our set even came with a small carrying bag so none of the pieces would get lost. The game principle is simple enough – place the pieces on the board to match the card, then move the pieces back and forth (no lifting up pieces) to allow your little ice cream truck to drive forward and escape the board. The car pieces and base are all very durable, the cards are about as durable as a set of playing cards, and all the answers are on the back of each puzzle card – just in case your little puzzler gets incredibly stumped. The puzzles themselves start off very easily and progressively get harder as you move along. I found that the "advanced cards" in RH Jr were about the same level as the "intermediate" cards on the original Rush Hour (see photo below). This brings me to the best part of this game – you don’t have to purchase "Rush Hour" should you want to get new cards/puzzles for your kid. Because my kid had completed all of the RH Jr. cards, I purchased the Rush Hour Add-on Pack #2, and he was able to play the add on pack without any problem. The only difference is that some of the cards are different colors – the blue two square wide cars can be replaced with the police car which is also two squares wide and so forth. You won’t find a blue three square wide.
Very fun! I was impressed that 5 year old was able to figure the easy ones out so fast! We moved to the next level up and he is challenged but not frustrated, he loves it. The super hard level is pretty tricky, #40 card gets me every time. I see tis lasting him a long time and would make a great gift!
My son loves this one.
I gave this as a gift. He was so thrilled with it that he played it until after 12:00 midnight. His mom was blown away by how much he loved this game. He kept wanting to play with it and not sleep. Great Gift.
I love this game I think more than my five year old, whom I bought it for! haha. It is a very fun game of trying to get the ice cream truck out of the traffic jams and is a great STEM toy for problem solving. We will be getting the next one up for 8 year olds and probably the adult ones too. I like that these are for one player only, so it’s something you just work on yourself. Definitely recommend and already bought one for my nephew also.
My son likes this game.He played this game all the night in the first day.
Our 6yo son loved the game. It was challenging and made him use his “thinker.” Easy for him to put together himself. I felt like it was a little on the pricey but still a good deal. Wish the tracks were deeper so the cars didnt pop out so easy when moving them around on the board.
This is such a great game for young children teaching them coordination and at the same time decision making.
My children immediately opened the box and began playing the game. My children, ages 5, 7 and 9 all enjoyed the game, though the older the child the less time the game kept them interested. Each child was able to navigate each of the cards, but the older kids got bored much quicker than my 5 year old. The best age group for this game is likely ages 3-6. Any kids older than that may find the game too easy and move on quickly.
