Glory of Heracles is a great, classical JRPG with a nice twist to the magic system. And the ancient Greece setting is really cool, ancient Greece has not been the setting in many RPG’s. It’s a good game for those who want to try JRPG’s, it’s not overly complex and it does not span the whole ancient world with countless of hours worth of gameplay. This game has a few quirks, like a really shaky camera. But, all in all, this is a great game with great humour and warmth. I recommed this game wholeheartedly!
A fun but definitely dated looking rpg. Good overall game. However, it is very, very linear.
this is great product, plays wonderfully – i haven’t finished the game yet – but so far i have not come across any glitches, etc.
I played this game as a kid and loved it despite the lagging storyline. I was really dissapointed because I wanted to know how the story ended, but ended up having to stop because I screwed myself over. I guess I hadn’t been grinding enough and came upon a sudden boss battle that I wasn’t anywhere near strong enough to beat. And I just so happened to save inside the building after the exit closed me off.I was strong enough for the last boss and this new boss came right out of left field and caught me off guard. I couldn’t start over because I was several pain-staking hours into the game.It was things like this that frustrated me about the game. The pacing was pretty terrible at times and you only got snippits of the storyline. Though the bits of info they gave you made you really think, I really wish they gave you more to go on to drive the story further and gave you actual motivation to continue other than "Man, I wish they’d get to the end already!"One moment you’re strong enough to fight a boss, and the next (within a couple minutes) you’re incredibly out powered. Too bad; this game had a lot of potential.
Glory Of Heracles is a lot of fun. The combat system has some really interesting design, including an optional spell boosting mini-game and an ‘ether’ system that requires the player to consider strategy if they want to win. Aside from a few hiccups, the story is solid and interesting, and the character interaction is often hilarious. So far the New Game+ doesn’t seem particularly special, so there’s not much of a replay value, but the story-driven exploration is both refreshing and interesting without feeling like railroading. Despite being produced by the often-mediocre Camelot company, GOH was great fun – I would definitely recommend snapping this up.
It is a nice rpg game to play.
I am 77 and a confirmed gamer. I loved the game even though I have to look up some of the walkthroughs, otherwise I miss too any goodies. I would highly recommend this game.
I ordered this product from Tony’s Extensive Game Collection because it seemed interesting and it was a good price. I was prepared to wait even though the person that I ordered it from had a promise of four days or less. My package arrived within four days. From California, I live in Pennsylvania. It was in excellent condition. I got the collector’s edition so I got the gamer’s manual and the original box and everything too, which were all in perfect condition. Thank you Tony.
Just great. I had no problem when I revived what I had ordered. I would be sure to order something again. Because the process went flawlessly.
I am merely hours into the game, and am having a blast. At first, I only bought this game due to the fact that it was $11 and retrolio gave a $10 game credit (so I thought ‘Why not?’) but I was actually surprised by how much I enjoy this game. There are plenty of skills for each character: some are learned from various temples throughout the game (that you do not get to choose specifically) and others are gained from pieces of equipment or weapons (which you of course do get to choose/enhance yourself). I find myself well-engaged in the storyline and smirking at the often quirky humor. I’m wondering about the ending, wondering what ties all of the playable and mysterious ‘immortals’ together, and wondering what sort of trouble is coming next. They even throw in various ways to power up your spells with the stylus during battle, doing up to 170% damage from what I have seen (but you are not forced to use this system and can opt or do nothing when prompted to simply cast the spell normally). This is a great handheld RPG for any age that I would gladly have paid full price for.Overall, this game is chocked full of ancient Greek lore and references, meshed together with cute and witty humor and keeps you engaged with an interesting-yet-familiar-and-user-friendly dynamic battle system.
