Find yourself back in the 1800s, where rumor has it that a vampire uprising is happening deep within the twisted heart of Wallachia, Transylvania. Take control of Reinhardt Schneider, a whip-toting Vampire Killer who has waited his whole life to meet his destiny, or Carrie Fernandez, a young girl with a strong magical presence who is mysteriously drawn to Dracula’s evil Castlevania. Both characters end up taking different paths and dealing with different storylines, but in the end they have to face down the same wretched demons including death itself. Great game fast shipping!
I loved it in 1985 and I love this one now.
I had this game as a kid and it was my favorite. I purchased it again, and it arrived in like new condition. It doesn’t have a scratch on it! I purchased a refurbished NES, and it played perfect the first time. I’m a happy camper.
I have many fond memories while playing the NES Castlevania. My brother received this game for hisbirthday bought at the old Fedco store in Orange County, CA. Let me tell you, this game is one hard sonof a gun. But you will always want to come back and play it. It has that certain dark, feel to it. The graphics werepretty good for the NES back in those days. The controls it seems, people complain a lot about. It takes a whileto master the delicate jumping parts in the game. The music is very catchy and adds to the spooky atmosphereof the entire game. retrolio stated that there are 2 playable characters in Castlevania. That is totally false!!!retrolio should delete that false statement immediately. There’s only Simon Belmondo, the Vampire hunter. What was retrolio thinking? This is not Castlevania: Rondo of Blood. Recently, I downloaded Castlevania on theWII VC, and I’m happy I did. This game is a timeless classic that should be in every retro gamers collection.
If you want to play a game about making your way through a haunted castle (or some place equally spooky) fighting ghosts, zombies, vampires, and other monsters, you have a lot of options these days. But back in the day, if you wanted that this was the game to play – and it was so well done it launched a franchise. The graphics aren’t bad (for an 8-bit game) but they’re rather more colorful than one would expect for a game that’s trying to invoke a gothic-horror feel. The music is quite good, however – and so catchy that most of the tracks were remixed in countless other Castlevania games. The game play is simple yet challenging, though the game is relatively short if you don’t count the hours spent replaying levels trying to beat them. Over-all I’d say it isn’t the best of the Castlevania games, but it’s still pretty well done.
It has awfull Knock back it has grest killer music and when ever you have a game over it starts you right at the beginning of the stage so theres plentifull of trial and ERROR to have exceptionally when it’s your fault becuse the awesome game designers decked out the controlls. The Bosses can be very stressful and also Draqula’s henchmen tho I still Recommend this Classic to any who are fans of the CastleVania series
Works. Husband loves.
Arrived in good time and in great conditon. I love this game! Thanks :D
it was an allright game fo the nes you play the role of vampire hunter simon belmont his primary weapon is the whip fighting through monsters & other spooky characters you can collect other sub weapons such as knife, boomerang & more some enemies are associated with halloween like frankenstein, grim reaper, dracula etc.
The original Castlevania game is one of Konami’s cult classics. Only good Ol’ Simon Belmont, the original Vampire Slayer can kick so much monster butt with his trusty whip. Its also considered Konami’s horror answer to The Legend of Zelda, but only on a linear platform. The immpecable gameplay, superior graphics, fluent controls, and kick-butt Konami soundtrack makes me wonder why I did’nt first play this game when I was younger (oh yeah, because the local Video Store never had it and we could’nt afford to buy every NES title back in the late 80s). After so many recommendations, I had to get it for myself, but my brother bought it for me before I had the chance to order it. For those that never played this horror adventure game, let me warn you that its hard. I never even made it up to Dracula myself (close, but no cigar), but thats why we have unlimited continues. You really have to strategize and maintain alot of patience as you progress and that strongly applies near the end of the fifth level and all of the sixth level (before you face Dracula). When you’re playing this game, you gotta practice and practice. I do have 3 main complaints about this game. I hate it when you get knocked back dramatically each time you get hit, resulting in alot of cheap deaths (this will be a common problem in the future games as well). Being defenseless on the stairs really sucks too (you can’t use your whip while walking up and down). Those relentless Medusa heads near the end o.
