It did not work in my retro-bit NES to sense cartridge. So sad and so mad!!!
For a game of its age, it has a lot of replay value. The graphics are colorful and the music is famous for its catchy and well produced sound. Using the expensive MMC5 mapper (a special nintendo game board that makes the NES more powerful), things like vertical scrolling and improved sound make it stand out compared to other NES games. The challenge curve is perfect, with enemies doing double damage once you actually make it to Dracula’s castle. There are three assistants that can help as well, and they each offer something that will help make certain problematic areas or bosses easier to bear. Also, here is some information that fans of the series and newcomers might want to take note of for Castlevania III:-Since it uses the special MMC5 mapper, this game has problems running on portable or “retroconsole” remade systems. And even if it does run, there might be graphical or sound issues. So your best bet is to get a hold of an actual NES.-There are a lot of differences between this version of the game and the japanese version akumajo densetsu. For example in the dracula stages the damage is never doubled and the final boss is easier. Additionally the help character grant was changed substantially for this version, arguably making him much less useful since in akumajo densetsu he had infinite daggers to throw but no melee attack. More importantly the sound of the entire game is different (which one is better is up to opinion, look it up on youtube if you want to hear the diffe.
Just as good as I remember!! Fantastic game and series of games!! This is just like the original game with a few "extras"… again great music too, has become quite famous along the way!
Just like the original castlevania, but with more stages and you can play as three additional characters. It took me a long time but I did finish this game back in the day with all three extra characters. the final stage is murder
When I first got into the NES, Castlevania was a requirement for me. I loved the first installment, and many great elements were included, such as the level layouts, brooding and haunting music (impressive, even by 8-bit standards), and difficult bosses. Castlevania 2 took away almost all of those elements for a more non-linear approach, and many fans didn’t seem too impressed by that. It was difficult to understand other characters’ conversations, and a no-map feature certainly wasn’t helpful (this would later be corrected on the GBA and DS series).Castlevania 3 returned to what Castlevania 1 was, only the designers built on that. Some of the levels were straight ahead, while you could choose certain paths to progress through the game (I LOVE the clock level!!!). There were also additions of 3 sidekicks — Grant, Sypha, and Alucard (yep, Dracula’s own son). Each had their own specialties, but Sypha was my favorite. She has 3 spells to kill the undead — fire, ice, and crystal. You can see the too-cool effect that the ice spell has on Level 6 and Level 9 (i.e., the waterfall parts of each level).By Level 8, it was a reincarnation of the first stage from Castlevania 1, and the music was much better and enhanced. But don’t be fooled — it’s one of the HARDEST, and you are faced with Mr. Grim Reaper himself (he’s brilliantly difficult on ALL the Castlevania installments!!) This is why, when you first start the game, you want to use the password called “HELP ME” — it w.
This game came out towards the end of the NES’ life cycle. Konami went back to the format that was originally used for the original Castlevania instead of the harvesting of hearts that was done in Castlevania II. The graphics, for what an eight bit system could provide, were incredible for the day. Amazing what was done in video games 20 years ago!
Welcome to the Castlevania story with Castlevania 3 Dracula’s Curse. We will look how the whole Castlevaina story began with the Belmont family and Dracula.(Opens Book)Castlevania Prolog Dracula’s CursePlot/Story: The year is 1476 and Count Dracula has begun ravaging Europe with an army of monsters. His sole purpose is to exterminate mankind. The Belmont family of vampire hunters, once exiled from Wallachia, is beseeched by the Church for help, as their own armies have met with defeat. The people feared the Belmonts’ "super-human" power and drove them out of the land, but with Dracula about to swallow Europe in darkness, they are left with no choice but to call Trevor Belmont, the current wielder of the Vampire Killer whip. Joining Trevor Belmont in his mission to defeat Dracula are three other heroes – Sypha Belnades, Grant DaNasty, and Alucard. Trevor and his companions cross the Transylvanian countryside, defeat Dracula’s minions, and eventually defeat the Count himself. Once his father is defeated, Alucard goes into a self-induced slumber, unable to cope with having fought his father. Grant DaNasty oversees the reconstruction of Wallachia after the battle is finished. Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades marry once peace is restored in the region.Gameplay: Castlevania III abandons the action-adventure game and role playing game elements of its immediate predecessor Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest and returns to the platform game roots of the first Castlevania title.
