When I first got this game, I was somewhat disappointed because it wasn’t that fun. As I gave it more time, I discovered that there are many more facets of the game that are missed at first glance. For me, I am particular towards the multiplayer aspects of Boom Blox. That is, I wanted to play this game with my friends/family – and preferred everyone participating together than sitting around taking turns. Thus, although Boom Blox supports a handful of 4 player games, I was disappointed when many of them only worked while taking turns. Furthermore, the shooting games where everyone could play simultaneously were even more disappointing because the game frame lags a lot with all the blocks bursting into [unnecessary] effects. However, as I found later, you can “edit” any level (or create your own) which allows you to speed up the game while taking turns (by reducing the timer to, for example, 5 seconds a turn) and change the weapons used to switch up the gameplay. This helped fix the earlier disappointment in which I found people got antsy as people really took their time (read: 40 seconds) planning their moves.Although the 4 player mode was somewhat lackluster, the 2 player mode was really great. Granted, it makes for less of a party game when only two people can participate – but many of the games are simultaneous and makes for exciting gameplay. There is both a cooperative and competitive route for the 2 player mode – both which are exciting in their own way. The cooperative.
Boomblox is one of the best party games out there for any console. The physics can be a little funky, but for a casual party game this is more charming than frustrating.
I bought this for my son’s 10th birthday. He had played it over at a friends house and really wanted it. It’s a great game for our whole family to play. I have three boys ages 4-10 and they all play it and love it!
Our family of five struggle with this game because there are more than 4 and we all love to play it. Throwing balls, knocking over towers and no one has to clean up the mess!
This game was alot of fun and very challenging. Its a great game for all age groups. I just wish it had alot more 3-4 player levels. I havent got the newer version yet I hope its as fun if not more.
My boys (ages 7 and 10) liked this game. They weren’t super interested in it after the initial hype wore off, but they still play it from time to time. Unlike minecraft, that they play almost every day.
Super fun game and a great challenge
This is my second copy of this game. The first copy just stopped playing on me and I have missed it so much. Yes – this 32 year-old mom and teacher missed a video game. I find it great stress relief and something I can enjoy with my friends and family alike. You can knock over blocks (and half way throw your shoulder out each time as you get into it), pull out blocks like Jenga style, or shoot for moving targets. All in all, this is a great game with hours of fun!
Fun puzzle game. To oversimplify what this game is, it is a puzzle game, where you either grab blocks, trying to take them out of a tower without toppling it, or else throw things at the blocks, usually to knock the tower down with the least amount of throws, and sometimes to use the ball to hurl the blocks into bulls-eyes for bonus points.Like most games that I really like, the premise is so simple, it takes just a few minutes to figure out how to play, yet the puzzles get increasingly complex, to where it is a genuine challenge to solve. My biggest gripe is that in multiplayer mode, about all you can do is ‘random’ puzzles, where the computer chooses what you play. Only single player mode lets you pick and choose what you want to do.Also, in single player mode, you start off with easy puzzles, and unlock more difficult ones, as you solve the previous, easier one. From 1 to 4 players, it is a VERY good ‘party game’ in that in multiplayer mode it is very quick/easy to learn how to work the controls, and each game only takes a few minutes. Also, the game requires a steady hand, so you can make the game more challenging for someone by trying to make them laugh so their hands are shaky. Sometimes a little wiggle is all it takes, to bring the whole tower down.
The game is great and we’ve had a lot of fun playing it. The only concern I have is that the control seems to jump all over the screen. When we play other games the control is steady and moves where we want but with Boom Blox it has a tendency to fly all over the screen making game play much more difficult. I don’t know why that happens or how to correct it, but it seems to be the game and not the wii.
