So many different scenes relating to so many different topics. The soldier’s dance was just too much. I kept waiting for him to take it all off while wishing I had a dollar bill in my hand.
I watched this because I’d seen a Youtube video of the 10 worst movies of all time or something, and the 10 seconds it showed were so hilarious I had to see the whole thing. It was amazing. I think this movie needs more attention, like even if you don’t like stupid movies how could you not enjoy this?! Give it a try, but be warned it’s part musical. I would give anything to have the sound the little tomatoes make as my ringtone.
Haven’t seen it in thirty years. It’s still corny and funny.
This film was Leslie Nielsen meets Twin Peaks. Completely idiotic and very intelligent. Eerily salient….
One of the funniest, goofiest horror movie spoofs ever. I have some fond memories of watching this when it used to show on HBO (never had to pay for it back then, he he). Be warned, it is not politically-correct in the slightest. But it was a different world in the 70s.
So this film is a “disaster movie” parody. It is also parodying the general culture of the 70s. If you were cognizant enough to remember how culture looked in the 70s, you are likely to be doubled over in laughter for a good part of this film. If you weren’t cognizant enough to comprehend what was going on back then, there are aspects of this movie that you will likely consider to be somewhat mysterious. But if so, it’s you – it’s not the movie. There are allusions to the pop music of the day, to the movie “Jaws,” to “Night of the Living Dead,” to Bruce Lee movies, to the OJ Simpson commercials, to various advertising and programming novelties of the era, to the political landscape of the era, and so on.One of the features of this film that is clearly mocking 70s culture, but which those who were not alive during that time may not “get,” is the crawler that appears out of nowhere on at least two occasions during the film.During the 70s (and even into the mid-80s), most weekend programming was the concern of local programmers. There was not nationally-standardized programming the way that there is now. Local television stations might use weekends to show old movies (A station local to me showed what was called “Creature Feature,” which was a program showing, at various times, either one or two horror/disaster/monster movies at the time.) and might use a local “celebrity” (or might even manufacture a local “celebrity” just for this purpose) to host. These shows would have.
One of the best movies I have ever watched. Well, b movie… still one or my favorites.
15151615/10, would reccommend!
My dad produced this movie.
Why can’t I give it 6 Stars?!
