I recommend this game to anyone of any age. Although it has some nudity / blood, I think it’s tame enough and reminiscent of the original era that it’s more education than anything for youngsters under 10. The music is probably one of the major perks. I’ve downloaded and listened to the music on MP3 players driving around because it’s THAT good. The gameplay is simple as can be: sidescroller, jump, attack, item, and magic. There are literally hundreds of weapons, armor, etc items to find, it’s amazing what some of the more rare special weaps do. The game itself is pretty long too, once you beat it, you beat it again upside down and all monsters/music/items are changed to reflect your stronger levels.Anyway, there’s lots and lots to describe of how awesome this game is. If you’ve never played it, I pity you.

One of the best games I’m sorry I ever sold to begin with. It had been years since I played SotN and the game was even better than I remembered. But if you’re looking to buy this game, you already knew that.
This game is nuts. Truly, the next Lords of Shadow game will have to be more than amazing to rival this unrivaled 2D masterpiece. Many have called this the best 2D game ever made, and I’m inclined to believe them. If you like the Castlevania games, vampire slaying, heavy metal, horror and fantasy, then buy this without delay. Also remember to look for Tolkien and Lovecraft references in the names of various items, weapons, and monsters.

Best PS1 game ever. Unlocked everything. Very fun every time. Great music. Combat and graphics are phenomenally intriguing. Instant classic. Think of this game for PS1 like what pokemon was for nintendo.
Best Castlevania game ever
One of the best PS1 games I’ve ever played. It nicely incorporates both action and rpg elements. Plus vampires are cool. So it’s got it all.
An oldie but a goodie. My friend asked me to purchase this game for him and send it to him. From what I can gather the game he so enjoyed a while back he is enjoying again. So he is playing it every chance he gets whether it be in the middle of the night or during the day.
The best Castlevania game I’ve ever played. Sure, you don’t get to play as Simon Belmont, but you can still rock the castle with Alucard and the numerous weapons and spells at your disposal. Truly the greatest Castlevania game ever invented.
