We watched this with our kids. The quality of video is good. Sounds are good. We enjoyed the movie! Parental guidance is needed. There are some kissing scenes.
Excellent Movie ! Something for everyone , men , women and young people , with two viewing options ( director’s cut and full gore ) . If viewing with small children or the squeamish , watch the former .
Unless you’ve been living with Ridley Scott’s Martian for the last 16 years, you can’t possibly have not seen, much less not KNOW about his Gladiator. I purchased this DVD when it was first released in 2000 and have managed to watch it over and over at least once or twice a year since. Triplet this movie with his Kingdom Of Heaven and Robin Hood and you have a tour de force of considerable EPIC proportions, a word Scott is very familiar with: EPIC!I recently picked up the 2010 Bluray remaster, wonderful transfer and glorious sound, but for economy, if you are still using DVD format (and what exactly is wrong with that anyway?) you have to have this in your collection. The picture quality is still magnificent, the DTS sound is still magnificent, and if you have the right equipment, who needs the Bluray anyway?Historically accurate? Far from it, as historically accurate as Alien, Blade Runner, Prometheus, and The Martian, but together with Kingdom Of Heaven and Robin Hood, they are fantastic entertainment and most of all Gladiator has heart, probably more heart than any other Ridley Scott film. That is what was lacking in Exodus Gods & Kings, it fell flat because of a serious lack of heart. If you are looking for good quality film transfer and sound, buy the DVD. If you are looking for incredible film quality and sound, buy the Bluray (the 2010 version).
Russell Crowe dies at the end of this 90s remake of Willy Wonka’s third chapter installation of chocolate factory classics.
This story gives a slight view of what real Roman life was like. Betrayal, lost love, great battles and lots ofadventure. For a better understanding of Roman life, read “Livy”. You’ll see what I’m writing about. ENJOY
Obviously the movie is excellent. The Sapphire Series Blu-Ray I ordered came with two discs, one with the theatrical and extended editions and the other with special features. Picture and sound quality were top-notch and I enjoyed the extra content from the extended edition.
Everything is to love about this movie. An Epic in the best meaning of the world. Russell Crowe and Ridley Scott are an unbeatable team.
One of the best movies of all time
Gladiator was an excellent movie and has all the aspects required to be a true blockbuster. Crowe is awesome as the General Maximus and provides an intensity and depth of character that truly makes the viewer emphasize with his trials throughout the film. Tragically, Oliver Reed, who plays the owner of the gladiator camp, died during filming. Apparently they digitized his face for the remaining scenes and I thought they succeeded. However, I can’t wait for the DVD to come out so I can look for the cover-ups. Getting back to the film, it appears to be pretty historically accurate. Commodus did in fact die at the hands of a wrestler/gladiator, although I doubt it occurred in the Coloseum! The opening battle scene is as intense as any on film, and I guess I was a little disappointed that no other large battles occurred during the rest of it. In short, great cast, great plot and great cinematography.
Are you not entertained!!!!! Busy little bees… Russell Crowe… yum.
